I am sure this has been done to death but stuffed if I can find the answer.

When an IMPORT bike is approved and complied from what I can actually see they fit a new speedo in KM/hr.

So what does the odometer start out at???????

Seems a bloody lot of low Km's bikes available, some seem just to low to be true.

I don't mind owning an imported bike, I just would like to know how many true Km's it has done.

    cheers

    max

Mines an import & they just replace speedo face miles to kms, digital speedo thingomajig stays in miles, they also changed indicator lenses, put on crap reflectors, put on stock pipes & new tyres, anything else i have now  forgotton, that was 18 mths ago.

so if the replace the face only 10000 miles is actually 16000kms it looks much better.
but what about the speed correction? the overlay face wouldn't be close enough in increment spacings to be accurate.

Thank you sir, should have know you would have the answer. So in all likelyhood whats advertised will be correct as long as it hadn't been altered in the USA. And that could be the case if I was there looking at a bike in person I wouldn't know for sure it was a true reading.
So it's a low risk here.

thats the kind of milage I would expect 2,000 per year for some owners. But I see 2007/08 bikes here for sale with under 2000 Km's on them. that just seems to low but I guess it is possible
