I need some advice please.  I ordered a Clymer Service Manual for my XLSportster 2008 and they sent me the manual for 2004 - 2006 models.

Does anyone know if there would be much difference in the year models when it comes to service manuals?

I have looked up on the internet and actually found the right one which I need.  But I am not sure if it worth sending it back to the dealer or not to get the correct one?

    Has anyone got suggestions?

04-06 manual will be for carby models, yours is EFI fuel system. The other one I can see is the 04-09 manual which covers your 08 sporty. I would definitely be giving the dealer a call.

    Slap.

Thanks for that Slap.  I wasnt sure.  I am still learning the mechanics of my sporty, hence buying a manual to do stuff myself.....I will send it back on your advice.

I did actually find that link when I was searching for a manual.  It has actually been blocked for piracy..... but thanks for your help mate.  I searched for hours for freebies but no luck.

Try autorepairmanuals.biz. Get yourself a factory manual and parts book if you'r serious.

Factory manual is always far superior than Clymers, also the Harley genuine manuals are pretty good for the money as it will give lots of stuff for your buck.

If you look hard enough you might find a free one on the net.

Thanks Kiwidave, I agree. and I did buy the Clymer manual (with their recommendation) from a HD spare parts supplier in QLD when I bought the fork spring kit so I could do it myself.  I would have preferred the ridgy didge manual but they said it was just as good as the genuine.

Thanks to some great HD members I have got some great suggestions too.  In hindsight I should have come here, to the Forums first I guess.  Next time I definately will be doing just that.

    Thanks everyone

PS and for an update: The Supplier sent me the next series for 2004 - 2009 which covers my Sporty.
