it seems to me the dearlers arn't really interested in adjusting the price but will come to some agreement on extras to a small extent. May depend on the model you are looking at also. be interesting to hear others recent experiences

When you say "new" - do you mean new new, or new to you?

A few years ago I couldn't (don't think anyone else could either) get a dealer to deal, unless I wanted to deal on the addons - not for a new bike anyway. The "buyers market" at the moment may have turned that around it seems.

In my case I walked away and bought second hand just because I hate catering to ripoff fucks. If you've got a few dealers around I'd go see how far you can push it.

Well hard to say. You gotta look a the asking retail and figure out how much it's overpriced, make a reasonable but low offer and work up from there. If they appear to be insulted it's just a tactic. come back with aa better offer.
Consider if both parties are happy at the end of the day it's a good deal for both...........

When was the last time you went into woolies, got to the checkout with $105 worth of groceries, offered them $80, paid $95 and got a discount card for next visit?
