     Hi all,

I think the FOB is a bit plastic and overall looks a bit cheap. Does anyknow know if there's an alternative out there? I saw one thread on a case for the FOB (http://www.hdforums.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=71&forumid=23&postid=403074&view=topic) but wanted to know if there was an alternative to the plast anyone has seen?

totally agree it doesn't need to be a "I ride a Harley beacon". It just looks like lazy design!

And yes, love the security. but surely they could put the chip in a slick keyring or something.

Let's hope someone pops up with one

Yep agree, it's a  bit shitty, but mine lives in my jacket ,so it doesn't bother me too much , also easy to find in the key draw , just look for the biggest piece of plastic and  presto  got me keys ,but I agree  the design could have been a bit better

I agree the design is hopless, I mean it's not even that it's plastic, you can get a remote for your garage door smaller than it these days.

If you open the fob, the circuit board and battery are a fairly small disc shape. I guess you could put that disc anywhere, like in a wallet or in the lining of your jacket, or even make a new fob.

You could just open it and stick the guts in something else. I suggested anal spare key insertion on another thread; I'm thinking a similar setup for a fob and everyone would marvel at my new hands free security system.

It's plastic for a reason - its a RF transmitter - if you seal it in metal it's not going to work - it can't transmit any signal out to the Security Module. Try putting your mobile phone in a metal container and see if works!!!! Same principle........ signal is shielded.

I would consider the the fact that being in plastic it is weather proof - that's dust and moisture proof. I wouldn't say it is water proof - it may gain water if left in the rain etc but a brief shower or accidental immersion should be ok! Think along the lines of weather proof, vibration resistance (like the battery popping out of its cradle due to a knock or jarring etc - Believe it or not - but there has been a lot of engineering put into producing a fob - like ruggedness, durability, weather proofing, reliability, signal strength & integrity etc - I don't think a leather pouch will cut it!!!!

I just put mine on a snap clip and hang it on my belt - if I don't have my pants on, then I am not ready to ride or her old man is chasing me I don't have time to manually put in the TSSM code - just run like hell .

My fob is superglued to my right testicle.

I've never really thought about it and im not overly fussed about how it looks. The fob sits in my pocket and stays there throughout the ride, that little leather pouch posted in the link looks ridiculous though! (IMO).
