Hi folks , new to site and am hopeful of some assitance ..... hopefully soon to be a owner of a 2007 up to 2012 Softail Standard and am real keen on some info on Shotgun Shocks Air ride set up ..... as in mainly are they still available and who would the best people in Sth East Qld to get them here for me , cost , how long , all the normal stuff .... thanks to all and hopefully wont anoy you good people with my many future questions ...... Tj .
If you have a look around there was a post with the whole setup and review for the ShotGun Shocks, if you have a late model with ABS I think there a problem with the location of the air compressor, but don't quote me on that.
Thanks Rocky , have checked out the actual website from USA and the owner , JD seems like a down to earth guy but have sent off an email to him and got no response plus after reading some of the post on this site before joining up there seemed to be some confusion as to wether he was still in buisness or not but will keep the ABS problem in mind and again thanks .
TJU, I,ve fitted the shotgun shocks to my 07 softie custom, could'nt be happier with them. Yes I did get them from JD in States, easy to deal with , no problems with postage, fitting took about 5-6 beers, easy job. As far as riding goes it takes awhile to learn how to set ride height & preload. Looks filth when fully sacked out, cant say it handles better or worse.
I would keep an eye on the AUD exchange rate, I bought them when AUD was 1.07 US, think its gone down lately.
Cheers Bloodnut
go for it give him a call they fit up to abs bikes[ 2011 blackline] they are top of the line shocks and he stands behind his product
Thanks for the reply Bloodnut ...... your not wrong about the exchange rate .... last year or so the Aussie Dollar has been great compared to Yank money but of course as soon as i want to get something it starts going the other way , thats life i reckon ...... can i ask how long ago it was you got them because as recent as today a bike shop here in Brissy said they thought he had closed ..... the glass half empty person inside me says that they maybe just saying that because they sell a different brand ..... one last thing , i know there is a excise tax for goods over a $ 1000 , any chance you might know what that is ..... Thanks again ..... Tim .
Thanks for the reply Hdee ..... good news as to what they fit , will keep that in mind ...... just responded to Bloodnuts reply and could i ask you the same thing as to how long ago you know of that he was still in buisness as i havent been able to get a respone from Jd himself via Emails and do you know the excise tax rate for goods over $ 1000 ..... i think the last i looked Jd was selling them for about $ 1500 or there abouts and depending on the import tax i may be better going with a Legends system that i can get here fitted for about $ 2000 , ball park figure ..... sursposed to be the next best thing ..... Thanks ..... Tim .
Got the shocks approx 3-4 months ago, a couple of emails from JD took a couple of days to get a reply, there is a phone number listed on the shotgun website, if you are concerned, look up the world clock times to find out what time it is in his US state & give him a call. From memory, think he did me a deal of approx $1350 us inc postage. Got receipt somewhere.
Talk to him yourself.
Thanks Bloodnut , that`s great news about how long ago you got them , will do the phone call when i`m ready to get them , thanks again ..... Tim .
