G'day guys and girls,.. new to the forum. My name is Andy and I live in Sth Oz. Hope all is well with everyone.
Hello and welcome to the forums.
Hi Andy, welcome to this site, If you like please share a little about yourself and your bike.
I was a newbie to this site a moth ago, but everyone here seems to be helpful in one way or another. I have managed to meet a few of them from SA recently on a charity ride, and they seem to be a great bunch of like minded people, all here to enjoy being out on the road whenever possible, and sharing our passion for Harleys'. Hopefully someday we may meet you face to face on a cruise somewhere.
Regards Ash.
Welcome Andy.
Currently awaiting a Harley.
Purchased in Detroit "06 softail springer" black, fuel injected currently 9000 miles. Should be departing the U.S next week, so hopefully I should have my hands on a registered machine mid to late August. Bike is pretty much stock to make ADR in Sth Oz cheaper. As soon as registered the custom work will begin.
Pretty keen to get some good miles up on it... as soon as the weather starts to come good out the other side of winter The Great Ocean Road could be a good little trip.. to wet the feet.
Would be great to hook up with a couple of you guys once it is all said and done for some country runs, as we all know... "There's nothing like the pack".. I work roster too (7 days on 7 days off), not sure if anyone gets weekdays off on here coz they make for good ride days.
Will keep a finger on the pulse in here and when I'm ready would be great to do some ridin with you guys.
Cheers. Andy
Just remember to make sure you have all the relevant paperwork with you when you take it to Regency Park inspection centre, I had a bit of a hard time trying to get mine registered, all over a piece of paper which was the import Approval Document, which my dealer had to chase up from his importer. If you didn't know already, the bike will need to be complied to meet Australian Standards too.
All the best with everything, and enjoy your ride.
Cheers for all the welcomes guys, really looking forward to getting on the road especially knowing there will be some fellow Harley's to travel with.
No worries Ash, taken onboard mate, I have imported before and did all my own permits and paperwork etc, it's no worries (hope I didn't just jinx myself),... you just can't go into it blind, do your homework, dot your i's and cross your t's mate.. as you know now.
For this bike I am actually using the one person to do the lot who only lives near me "H-D Downunder" @ One Tree Hill.. he is picking up, importing and doing ADR complience. Being a South Australian company they know exactly what Regency are going to want too. I purposely purchased a stock bike to make this cheaper, quicker and easier. I think all that will need to be changed is the front head light, front indicators and he gets a new H-D speedo in from Harley and they set the equivilent km's on it as the current miles on the bike to be fitted. Tyres are good as they are released in Australia and brand new (Metzeler 880's) handlebars and pipes both stock. Last time I imported was last year when the Melbourne docks went on strike and there were 60 or so ships out to sea waiting to be unloaded,,.. that caused a little delay (I used a Melbourne outfit last time).
