A mates looking for an FXSTC , and a lot of 07,s are around . Can anyone give us a timeline of bike manufacturing with the different types of fuel injection . Seems Magneti-Marelli and Delphi were the two systems .All I can tell is that fuel injection was option from 95-07 , then standard across range from 08 , Cheers , Tim.
Delphi systems since 2002 Australia was "fuel injection resistant" until 2006, after that ALL bikes were fuel injected All 2007 and up FXSTC will then by default be fuel injected Magnetti marelli was only up until 2001 . Can be troublesome apparently. Delphi systems all good mate !
G'day folks.
Can I revive this post a bit? I've discover that my 2003 Softail Standard (FXST) has a throttle position sensor installed (first of all that instills me with no hope), but even worse it has Magneti Marelli (MM) stamped on it.
Does this mean I have an MM system on my 2003 Softail, and if so what should I do? Bin it in favour of a Delphi, suck it up, buy a Yamaha?
TIA
If it's a 2003 then it has Delphi fuel injection as OEM Other components such as you describe may well still have been MM Is it a "grey import" ? Most all Aussie bikes in 2003 were still carburettor equipped anyways , as that's what the dealers ordered due to " customer demand " I had worked on very very few injected bikes older 2006 for that reason until the grey import rush
Those I have worked on are some of the fair few Injected 2002 to 2006 "imports" that have arrived in Perth in the last 18 months
Most all US spec " domestic" bikes since 2002 are fuel injected due to US emission controls
PM'd you Retroman, thanks.
i might have to find an appropriate thread for my dramas, which are not necessarily related to the fuel injection system; it's just what I'm currently blaming (without justification), but I'll type the basics below.
My machine is simply cutting out intermittently. Could be fuel, but had the pressure tested and is a-ok, coil delivering nice blue spark, no codes thrown, but the old girl just hoiks up her skirt and stops roadside whenever she feels like it. No pattern that I've noticed, other than it is increasing in frequency, and only seems to happen once the bike is up to operating temperature. I tried to test the resistance in the TPS this evening, but the trusty multimeter battery went flat on me (cut me a break!). Seems a little "flat" at one spot early in the throttle, even when it isn't playing up, and sometimes when I'm idling at the lights the RPM will increase for no apparent reason.
All this just started since a recent service I had done by a dealership, which may be coincidental. That said, I'd ridden it 8000km's prior to that with it not missing a beat. I've got it booked in to have a PV installed and dyno tune, so I'm hoping that will fix the issue, but it may not.
Thoughts?
