Im using an open faced helmet and sunglasses to ride. That use to be fine but now my eyes start to water pretty bad and was wondering if goggles or glasses with the foam around the eyes work well for stopping air blasting my eyes or they dont work at all.

What say you and what brands do you recommend?

I have looked at Wiley X, naninni , PDJ goggles.

I know I could always go a full face but not reall wanting to at the moment.

While I have your attension face masks. Whats the best ones you have found that will protect from shit hitting oyu and keep you warm? Are the ones that cover your neck any better or are the ones that just cover your face (nose down not all of face)?

Unisafe " Roxby " at $20 from safety shops are as good as my Fuglies at $70 . No wind in eyes till 120km/h . I use bandana over nose and cheeks in hot weather , 1/2 face neoprene mask in cooler and rain , no worries. P.S. nice bike choice , changed your rear shocks yet ?

I haven't changed the rear shocks BUT I was bottoming out all the time so I got a shock wrench and adjusted them up two settings and now its a different handling bike. No bottoming out at all.
Ill check those uni safe glasses out.
How do you like your forward controls and do you know the part numbers and the reach? Im use to my mids now.

Standard chrome ( not the reduced 1" ) forward controls , part #HD49080-06A approx $425- , fitted by dealer here in Adelaide for $640- total . I am 6' 2" and perfect now , was cramping in hips on longer runs . Wil put risers on next to pull bars back a bit , maybe stock FXDL .I weigh 105kg and ride 2 up a lot , hence more bottoming out.

Ugly fish glasses with the neoprene seals keep the wind out well. Even a full face still lets in the breeze and can make your eyes water, at least they do for me. I have found the HD cloth face mask works well for keeping warm and stopping sun burn. Its a stretchy material tube that covers your face and neck. The neoprene face masks don't seem to fit very well, and make my glasses fog up heaps. Just my 2c.

Thanks TC883 all comments and suggestions are welcome. Ill have a look for one of those HD cloth face masks.
Yeah Tim I weigh a bit more than that. Thanks fully the wife is less than half my weight. :)
I'm only 5"10" so may be one inch reduced? I got hip lock as I call it the other day whilst riding, or should I say when I stop and put my right leg down the hip hurts like it locks in position but it doesn't actually lock it just hurts like hell.
I tell you those Roxby glasses vary from below $20 to over $30 and one place wanted $15 to send one pair of glasses. Ill be in Newie next week so Ill go to worksense and check them out.
    Thanks gentlemen for your help.

I wear a full face neoprene for rainy days and Uglyfish glasses they fit my scone well and I think thats half the battle. Finding something that fits your face and doesnt let air in. I have the yellow tints as well, great for night riding!

I do have trouble with fogging in my glasses on wet days.

30 years of riding in sunglasses has fucked my eyes to the point that I can't even ride around town without the eyes watering like a bastard!

Ugly fish goggles with the strap on works for me. The buckle thingy is a pain in the back of the head though, just fuck it off and get the missus to sew the strap together.

As far as face masks go......bandanas are good for blowing your nose and neoprene is good for stubby coolers!!

When I have to (ie. rain or cold) I have for longer than I can remember used one of those open face type armed forces woollen balaclavas. Slip it over ya head back to front and wear the forehead part across your nose. Doubles as a neck warmer as well!

Prefer to have the wind in my face though.......bugs and all!!!!!!!

His bike would win best rat at any show I reckon.

I always give him a wave when he goes past............he doesnt aknowledge me...........But...... I dont think he can see me!!

I use an open face with optional press stud visor, and wear Arnette "Freezer" sunglasses around town & open road, plus neoprene Ski mask with neck warmer. Eyes start to water a little bit when traveling above 100 km/h, and I try keeping sunnies pushed back as far as they can. My biggest problem is trying to keep eyes focused on the road whilst helmet is catching the wind when out on the open road. Thinking of using my old Bieffe full face helmet with pull down visor for longer runs now. I don't care how it looks, it did the job when I was riding dirt bikes, so I can't see why I should go out and buy another helmet.

I did look at the Wiley X rage Ox but the $150 to $200 price seemed a bit much for what they are.
06 Softail I think in some ways its funny that your judged on your helmet that you wear. I know open face seems the go but comfort seems paramount on longer trips involving higher speeds.
I had a run on Thursday and the majority of the trip was 50 to 80 km/h. It was a comfortable ride BUT back on the freeway doing 110Km/h the comfort level dropped due to the watering eyes and wind buffering.
Then again I cant take two helmets so I suppose I will suffer for the sake of beauty hahahahahahaha

Nolan have a new lid which is really interesting, an open face but with a detachable chin guard which is not as obvious as a full face AND it has two visors, a sun glasses tinted one plus a full face shield which both slide back into the shell so when they are open you cant tell there is a visor.

How about you buy one so I can find out what they are like :)

Taffymarsden. I have heard of that helmet and I was told it was coming to Oz two months ago and I still have not seen it.
I tried another brand on the other day that was brilliant in that the helmet was open faced with a fold down front that made it a full face. The difference was that when the front was folded back it looked like part of the helmets aerodynamics by folding right back to the rear of the helmet. The only reason I didnt buy it was that they only make an XL as the biggest size (which fitted perfectly) but when you folded the face piece forward the sides of the helmet squeezed into the side of my jaw and mouth and hurt like buggery. Shame it was a brilliant idea and great looking helmet.

Thats interesting Sparra. I would be amazed if they would put a standards sticker on it if it wasn't compliant BUT I have seen non compliant helmets on sale so it wouldn't surprise me. The helmet I looked at was at a dealers so I would imagine they wouldn't want to leave themselves open to litigation if things went pear shaped.

The Shark EvoLine is an approed helmet that can be used full face or open.  When open the chin piece latches over the back out of the way.

We have one for the wife and if I ever got to the stage of wanting a full face helmet then I would probably go for one too.

I think that Shark is the one I looked at. It doesn't come any bigger than XL which squashes my fat face and jaw. Shame as it fits perfectly with the chin section at the back.
