     Hi there

A mate of mine who is away on holidays in NZ left me his Sportie for a few weeks to keep an eye on. It's runs a 95 EVO engine. I've kept it on a battery tender to keep it topped up and today being such a nice day took it for a 40K run.

I parked it and came out about 20 mins. later  and immediately noticed a small 10 cent sized leak of oil which is coming from the shifter shaft where it protrudes from the primary case.

I'd like to repair this for him before he gets home from his break and was wondering how easy it is? Can it be done without removing the primary case? Any tips or tricks appreciated.

    Cheers

I remember many moons ago I had this problem with a sporty I had. Trick was to get the new seal over the spindle (i think thats what you call it ) without damaging the rubber part of the seal, due to the grooves on the spindle.  Bloke from Rocky Custom Cycles just wrapped a piece of thin metal (coke can I think he used) around the spindle (shaft thingey) so the grooves wouldn't cut into the the rubber in the seal, slid it on and worked it in.    Mate i know thats pretty vague description but many beers and bongs have gone through me since then and thats all I can recall.

    Cheers
