Siren has a 9 volt internal battery which takes over when your bikes battery goes flat. Thats why when you disconnect the battery (without turning the ignition on), the siren goes off.

I had this problem when the idiots at the shipping company took my softail out of transport mode when I relocated interstate, you need to look in the workshop manual for how to set your switches when you put the battery back in to stop the bike engaging the alarm. It is a security feature to prevemt a simple battery disconnection to disable the alarm for thieves, it is not in the owners manual. Remove the battery, then just before you replace it, set the switches, replace the battery (get a trickle charger to stop it discharging again) and you should be right. Cheers
