Getting myself ready to do a good service on my 02 Sportster. Theres no need for me to borrow tools so Im best to get my own. I have a motorcycle jack and service manual waiting to arrive!

Just looking at the bike I know Im going to need a set of

Imperial Spanners

Imperical Socket set

um Imperial Allen keys, or ive seen a set were the hex shape attaches to the ratchet?

and those star shaped bolts? the tool for those are called??

would there be anything else I should get a hold of?

star shaped bolts are torx bolts you will also need need metric due to anything after market on the bike normal use metric sizing,(made in china)

Depending on far you plan on going, a torque wrench.

oh yep, should mention, i have metric spanners, sockets a couple extensions and a torque wrench - its just the imperial stuff i have nothing of!

do i need a full set of torx sockets or is there only like 3 or 4 sizes that you need?!

4lb hammer and lots of patience.

 

trade tools direct sell some great cheap torx socket sets for round 30 bucks i got few sets found the impact type for doin discs ect normally dont last long so get a good set the bigger sizes if ya gunna do discs an pulleys an dont forget a good oil pan or as i do a metal spill tray from supacheap for 10 buks will fit great from front tire to rear under bike an catchs any thing that may drop fall or spill
