Sporster 883 2006 dead, no power at all.....

    it's the second time this happens. i got it serviced approx 4 months ago, and one day after a ride, i tried to start it again & there was no power at all...the alarm signal wasn't blinking, i put the key in the ignition...and still nothing all all.

    the first time that happens, she came back to normal after a few days like nothing happened but this time she's still dead.

    any suggestions?

    Then check all the electrical connections and earth contacts first by physically undoing or pulling them apart, clean with CRC CO contact cleaner if necessary and put them back on/together. Most times it is something simple like a faulty connection somewhere. This goes for all bikes. You have to take the seat, tank, side covers and loom cover off to do it right. Also check the regulator bolts as they earth it too. No shortcuts here!
    I know a bloke with a sporty who, a few times, had a mysterious flat battery, and his allarm was playing up too. He took it to the dealer twice to have it fixed. and they said they cant find anything wrong. Brought it home and i did it again. We pulled apart all the connections and checked them, refitted and tightened all connections and earth contacts on the entire bike. Even in the switch housings, and checked the loom for wires rubbing throught the insulation,  and it hasn't had a problem since. This was over a year ago and he still has the same battery! Even though we didn't see any thing wrong, it fixed the problem.

    thanks mate,

    i put it apart yesterday and it turned out there was a loose connection with the earth where the maxi fuse is located.

    i need to open the little black box and redo the connections properly. i did loose power while riding yesterday arvo a few times and when i played with the connection, it started again.
