If it's a rego'd rigid frame bike you would be nuts to convert it to a soft tail rear, you would most likely be financially better off selling that bike complete, and finding a soft tail that you like and buying that........

Hey chopaweeza , your right mate got know experience  ,but  love the challenge  and my bike  , regarding buying a softie  ,thats ok but  would like to know the manufacturer of my rigid frame,to get specs ,rake etc, so if I do get a custom/aftermarket frame I would like to keep it looking similar. I will get my missus to post a few piccys on the weekend

    Cheers Rod

ya can tell harley ridgids easy by the castings ect aftermarket bit harder i had a shovel ridgid an swapped it all into a softy frame yrs ago the aftermarket softy frames are ok but the laws are startin to get harder on rego if its regod as a eg;1950s or a 60s or 70s ya get away with no indicators if ya get a new frame with mso ect ya gunna need to change frame numbers ect on rego an they will want it adr as a icv most prob which means all the bullshit to get it upto 2012 adr ..it depends on wat state ya in mainly
if ya realy want some bounce in ya rear maybe look at makin ya rigid into a plunger rear that way ya keep ya rego an all numbers are cool too
