HI guys.
Ive just gotten in some nice handlebars for my bike. they arent going on just yet as i need to take some measurements in case i need extended lines. and im waiting for a few bits and pieces to arrive so I can powder coat all in one go.
I want to get another set of harly front brake & clutch hand controls. just to shorten the levers and smoothen the shape out and re-powder coat or leave as the brushed look (im also changining the switch controls and throttle)
The sportster, being an 02 single front disc - I am assuming that i should keep an eye out for 96-03 make controls
Ive spotted a set from an 04 dyna. would anyone know what hand controls from other model harleys will fit to the sportsters?
Howdy, you could try and reference parts using the Harley Davidson Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories book. You can get a copy from the dealers or download an electronic copy from the web. It has controls and from what years they suit each model. You may be able to match up what looks to be the ones you're asking about regarding compatability.
Just an idea.....
Cheers.
Ha ha, actually I think it's an evil book that shows you what you can get for your bike and that can be a problem. You start seeing things you didn't realise you needed.....but is that a bad thing?
I got the electronic copy here, www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Content/Pages/Genuine_Motor_Accessories/parts-catalog-offer.html
You can even request a copy on the webpage, but I was in the store and had it handed to me. It's 856 pages of parts etc.
Good luck with the match up.
Nice link Thanks Iron eddie.
found something a little more specific to what i was searching for: http://www.jerseyh-d.com/Components.aspx?model=Sportster&year=2002&part=1026 [you can change Harley models with the drop down box] it shows an image of the part & components - and lists its part number :] I printed that screen out & cross referenced the parts I was after which came of the 2004 dyna. The part numbers match up for the hand controls; so it looks like im good to go with the dyna parts i found earlier
Hey Hoppy, that website you have is a good find as well. Very handy for what you're after!
Good luck, and don't forget to put pics up of powder coated parts when installed etc....
Cheers!
