    Hi All

I have been considering a stage 4 kit. I have read thru this thread, man there is some good oil here. I have not yet pulled the trigger on the stage 4. Since I didn't get it new with the bike my warranty will be shot (about 8 months to run). The dealer said that anything not related to the upgrade will be covered but in reality that only covers the rolling stock. My biggest concern is potential damage to the bottom end. she is still new and barely run in, about 5k. In hind sight I probably shoulda got the kit when new. Have you guys with the stage 4 had any bottom end issues? I know that Chriso has ridden the cunt outta his with no issues, thanks Pato1967

Haven't heard of any bottom end dramas at all. I think the only thing you may come across is the odd dodgy lifter. I think they've even sorted them now. I know I'd be just pulling the trigger and saying fuck the warranty. Mine had k's on it before the stg IV kit. That's me though.

Yep what Ando said. VPC $$$ would be money better spent on a good tune after fitting. What pipes ya gonna put on it??

harry I got V&H BR 2-1 happy with the pipes and was gonna stick with them. I did enlarge the hole in the end cap of the baffle just to give me a little more noise. getting the baffle out was fun, took awhile but evenually it gave in. last time i got my bike tuned it was done at the dealer based on your experience am i wasting my time at the dealer? if so who can you recommend in Melb town?? currently she is putting out about 75 ponies

Well the only fella I use in Melbourne is Brian in Bayswater @ Eastern Big Twin.. Actually he might be able to put together something better around the same money, Probably give him a buzz before you pull the trigger I'd reckon. Doesn't really matter where in Melbourne you are it's not that far for good service.

I personally wouldn't waste my time with a tune that gets based on prices around 130 per hour and the guys really only have 2-3 hours to do a custom tune.Thats at the dealers.

75 ponies stepping up to around say 115 ponies give or take is an enjoyable experience, The fun is in the Torque though.surprise

Pato that pipe is killing ya power

seen stock 103's in a fatbob make lo 90 HP an 100 Torque with a D&D Fatcat

look at a 107 kit with work on ya stock heads stock barrels bored run at 10.6 to 10.8 to 1 with a tman 590 or SS585 cam and a HPI 55mm TB and get a nice 120/120 for the same price as a Stage IV

    G'day guys.
Read this whole thread, some great stuff in here, it really helped me with my decision.
I have a few questions if that's ok?
Just pulled the trigger on a new 15 breakout and getting the stage 4 race kit fitted from new, there was some talk about the lifters being weak and should be swapped out but also as someone said more recently that HD have fixed the problem, can anyone please tell me more about this?
Should I change them while they are building it or stick with the ones that will be in it?
Also curious as to what sort of fuel consumption you guys are getting (not that it really matters, just curious).
Did any of you guys opt for the higher volume oil pump or is the stock one fine?
Last one, does anyone know or can anyone recommend a good tuner who really knows what they are doing either in Newcastle or Sydney, as someone said before, and as I've experienced before just having a dyno doesn't necessarily make someone a good tuner.

    Hi,

In the screamin eagle catalogue it now has printed to change lifters every 7500miles with high lift cams, ie se259e cam, they also recommend SE lifters, i doubt the dealer would put anything else but harley lifters in, maybe run the stock lifters then change out at 7500miles to aftermarket if concerned about HD quality

On freeway cruising the fuel consumption still pretty good anything else and you gonna go through it, i used stock fuel pump, i got know idea about tuners in sydney
    Thanks

does anyone know the difference between the street legal stage 4 and the race stage 4? is it high flow injectors and valve springs? the part numbers are 92500010 (race) 92500011 (street). which kit do you guys have installed? cheers Pato

street legal only gets the warranty if added with a new bike purchase. from what I can tell the diffs are the high flow injectors and valve springs.

    Hi,
I think most running the race kit, the injectors with race kit are 4.9g (27797-07), pretty sure the valve springs are same for both kits as its the cnc factory ported heads in both kits

Get a kit breakdown from dealer, but dont think you get a tuner with street kit and when installed they load an Emission compliant map to it whereas the race kit has no map and must be tuned and apparently to run optimum it would be outside Emission mandate
    Thanks
