na it's my poor ability to articulate what I was trying to say. Yes sports bikes are the bench mark for all sorts of things and for anyone that has ridden them it's not a bad way to gauge a different style of bike. Never will a cruiser measure up in handling or breaking but for someone converting from sports to cruiser it gives an idea of what not to expect. Although everyone views their sports bike differently I guess. What they will never get is all the pleasant surprise factors as they come to know the new bike. One thing a HD has all over a sports bike is CLASS. It's a different world and one I suspect many aspire to reaching.
Any way the main thing is your happy with your bike, it seems to be more good than bad and you have room to improve it is you want. 700 ks in 2 weeks says a lot about how much you do enjoy it.

 Max, you're spot on there about CLASS and it has been nothing but happy riding so far .. The bike has been an absolute pleasure and so to has the feeling of just knowing that you own a HD. It's as much about the intangible as the material.

Hi fellow fatbob owners I've read all your comments and thought i better say my two bobs worth ,Loved the the bike from when first set eyes on it at phillip island 2007 ,test rode one at coffs harbour & brisbane on way home orded one at bundaberg arrived march 2008 .Struggled to ride it home [been riding harleys 28years]the standard suspension is fucked after 76000km I have got it right ,raised front end 2' with works triple rated springs & emulater .  Rear xl1200s rear shocks [1'longer than standand] with fxdx springs , full adjustable shocks compresson & repond.

Just did track day on phillip island ,surprised a few japers  & never got lapped .In my opinion raise the bike to get clearance tweek the suspension & your will see how good a fatbob will handle.

 Quality wise it's the worse i've experenced ,warrany claims on front gaurd, fork legs , side cover & front master cyclinder cover  ,rear belt broke at 36000km they replaced under waranty.Found rear wheel & steering head bearings dry at 17000 km.

A lot of the claims were for corrosion or poor preperation & painting . On the edges showed signs of starting to lift ,like peeling.The bearings I found myself , the rear ,I poped the seals out to repack with grease after a tyre change and found them dry . The steering head - I was on the dorrigo ranges geting in to the corners when halfway in to a corner the bike just seem to drop on me , frightened the shit out of me , threw the foot out like a speedway rider , kick myself back up then rode the rest of the 1000km home very weiry of it happing again .When home found top locking nut loose and not one ounce of grease in bearings , new bearings ,set bearing tension correct , good as new[what harley should have done]

Thanks for the clarification on that. Hopefully HD have got their shit sorted out now, but I'll still have to check those bearings out sometime soon.
I gotta say, that description of your ride through the Dorrigo ranges  brought out a bit of a chuckle.... Only cause it didn't happen to me!

just got news pick up on the 9th, bike has hit the shores but they need to get there hands on it

and then take another week to fuck around and put all the bits on it. more waiting

Well........ I ordered a jacket and went in to pick it up yesterday and chased down the sales manager............. low and behold my bike was there just arrived...... my problem banks were closed to final the coin.........

Not happy, they asked if I wanted it today and my answer off f*&%ing course I would but you didnt tell me so I have to wait till next week  to final the coin

Yep your right Ozy, they are a good crew just follow up is a little ordinary after you place the order....... but thats normal i guess. Thats about the only complaint I could have about them.

Anyway basic options fitted rego Monday and hopefully Tuesday in the garage.
