not sure but I think this is the first fat bob model with 103 and ABS twin disc. If that's the case then the blue will show you have the first of them where as black will always be in every year model.

    Thanks fellahs for the congrats.
Ozymax, as far as I know 2012 is the first model year for the FXDF to come in the big blue pearl colour (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!), so you are probably correct in what you're saying.
    Cheers.

This year is the first "dark blue" FXDF, 2011 had Sedona orange and white denim, 2010 had silver and crimson red from memory

yeah Andy i have had mths to think about what i want and do all the research as i have been waiting to sell my bike.

Was sold on the 120r for a while and then the 113 but after much consideration and advice have decided on stage 4.

Also looked into pipes alot to before settling on D&D. I think you have made the right choice there to mate, are you going

with the standard setup or the quiter baffle?

I am going to do this one right as i made the wrong choice (for me) with my last Harley (tourer) and am going back to the dynas.

Chriso, I'm hearing you about the months of research and that was just on the fuckin exhaust, A/F and tuner and I still haven't nailed it down yet (the tuner). I'm surprised I'm not divorced with the amount of time I've spent with my nose in the Internet.
As for baffle on the exhaust, that's yet another thing I've gotta decide on. Being a non-politically correct rev head i'd definitely prefer the standard setup, but I also don't want to draw the crabs if it's too loud and the resultant hit to the hip pocket the crabs bring.
What type/brand LED tail light are you getting? That was something else I was thinking about, but couldn't really find one I was happy with.
    Cheers

I went the tribar with the smoked indicator lens as well, came up great, reckon it fills the guard nicely.

Actually I do remember seeing that LED tail light in the HD catalogue and thinking it looked shit hot, but was concerned about the cost. From the handfull of others Ive seen since, this looks the best by a long shot and will probably be worth any extra cost over an accessory non-HD one.

ok Andy time for an update. how have the first weeks been? anything great you didn't expect? Or anything bad you found?

Andy it sounds like you have made a great choice. I don't think we should be expecting or comparing it to a sports bike in any way but understand it's a comparative yard stick. If your rubbing pegs your enjoying it and that's great. Maybe braided lines and pads would help with the brakes but it is 400 odd kgs with you on it so stopping can't be perfect. I am assuming S1K is bmw if so your never gonna get the FB to match that. but it would be a nice combo to have lucky you.
Suspension seems to be a common concern with a lot of HD's and upgrades can be a bit expensive but apparently can make a substantial difference. Be interesting to see if over time you sense the dyna wobble sneak in to it.
Not many bikes sound great in stock form but I agree the new compliant HD's sound bloody embarrassing. Maybe nock out the centre plugs just to make a small change or play with the valve and cat till you can get some pipes. Deciding just what to go with would be a task in it's self.
Any way great to hear your enjoying it so much and thanks for the update.
    regards
    max

Hey max, I appreciate your feedback.

I think you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say. I can assure you mate, that if the FB was a match for the S1K (it is a BMW) in it's sporting/performance or handling prowess, I would not have one sitting in my garage right now. I bought the bike for what it is, a cruiser and a damn fine one too. My reason for mentioning sports bikes was because that is what my background is and I wanted to put some perspective on my comments about the handling and braking.
As I mentioned in another post, I'm loving this bike mate and I suspect I'll still have it long after the BMW's gone.

    Cheers
