Alright I posted this question in workshop with no result so thought I
    would renew it here.
I want to put some Avon cobras on my fatbob and want to know if the 200
will fit straight on the back or not. I have seen one with them on but don't know if
he fucked around with wiring under the gaurd to get it on.
    And yes I have tried
the search engine but can't seen to get a straight answer.

Hey Chriso I did read on another source that it is the Avon 200 is the only 200 that fits straight on without any mods to the belt cover. I was thinking of going that way myself. I only have 5500 ks on the stockers and they would be 3/4 gone already so I may as well be running better tyres. Originally I was going to stay with stock because I was told you could expect 15000 or better, I can tell you now that isn;t going to happen. About another 1500 and I'll be shopping for tyres.

Does say in the manual with the ABS model not to use different diameter tyres because it affects the ABS, don;t really know what impact a small difference would make.

They do look good, however one of the reasons I went away from sport bikes was changing tyres every 5k or less, hope they get at least 9-10k out of them.

i have read blokes saying that they get 12000 out of em, i dont expect to get that the way i ride but anywhere close to 10 and i will be happy.
Anyway there is no price for confidence in tyres

    Folks

Very much a newbie having recently moved to feet forward after many years of feet back, and have only just reached the first service point on my new blue Fat Bob.

Loving this bike heaps and the relaxed feeling for sure, but am wondering if you all run with tyre pressures as per the book or something different?

It might be me, or stock tyres,  or other but still the bike does feel a little harsh sometimes - maybe I need to read more here and see if suspension tweeks are a good idea?

    cheers Don

    Hi Don,

I too have recently been exposed to the relaxation of feet forward riding.
I have been running the stock tyre pressures and have also found the ride to be harsh at times. From what I've been able to work out from a bit of research, the best and not necessarily the cheapest fix for this is to replace the shocks. At some point in the future I'll be looking into this mod myself, but there is no shortage of advice on this and other forums.
By the way, thats a top choice in colour you've made too.

    Cheers, Andy

    Good on ya Andi

might have to keep track on what we try, I have recently dropped front pressure to 32psi and does seem a little better but also must say that as I spend more time on the bike it does seem to be not as bad as I perhaps originally thought. So I am also thinking that as the bike beginns to loosen up, or maybe it is me loosening up - I feel might be improving, But have also been reading that many have updated shocks etc. So will see as I get some more miles under the belt?

    regards

    Don

I have ricor intimidators on order, they have better write ups then the gold valves
and work best with stock springs.
But puttin progressive on the back as I like the stock chrome covers and you can
get the progressive with the covers now.

The stock rear shocks seem ok but as with my last bike

i did not relies how fucked they were untill I put something decent on.

Those Ricor valve things do sound like they are good, so will be very interested to get your own thoughts on them once you get em in

    good one

    Hi All

Am very much a newbie and contemplating my first HD purchase. Like the look of the FB. having ridden dirt bikes only and i am a bit concerned about the size of the FB as a first road bike. In reading the posts here I am encouraged by the comments about its ease to ride. I would welcome any feedback or comments am I crazy to considered such a bike as a first??

    Thanks in advance

depends a bit on your size and riding experiences.
go to a dealer and have a look and test ride the bike that feels like it fits you best

thanks for the feedback. was planning to go to HH dealer tomorrow to have a look. i am about 88kgs, 5'10. mainly off road fire trails, rock tracks. bit of mixture fast and flowing as well as steep and gnarly (for me anyway). too old for trails now, the body was getting too beat up.

sounds like the bob will fit you but there are a lot of other models to consider.
biggest thing if you havent had much to do with them is the difference between the "A" dyna and "B" softail motor.

i assume that the vibration between the 2 variants is quite noticeable? i also assume that once you are past a certain engine rpm the difference decreases and is mainly at idle when the difference is the greatest.
