    Hey Fellahs,

I put a deposit on my first HD in February, a Fatbob which is due to arrive in June or July (a F*#*#N long wait !!) and just wanted to get a bit of info from any current owners:

    a) What sort of mods blokes are doing to their bikes ie. exhausts, air filters, tuners and fuel modules or anything engine, electrical or chasis and suspension related at all? Are you happy with what you've done, or would you have done anything differently?

    b) Has anyone had any problems at all with their 12 Fatbob and is there anything specific to keep an eye on, regardless of whether it's standard or modified?

The first few things on my list are a 2 into 1 exhaust, tuning or fuel module and air filter.

I've done a shit load of searching this forum and others for this sort of info and it's pretty thin on the ground at the moment, which is the reason for this post. I also realise the reason for this may possibly be the effect that mods have on the standard HD warranty and the increase to the 103 for the 12 model year.

Anyway, thanks for your time boys.

    Cheers,

    Andy

    I have a 2012 FXDF
Great bike with no issues so far
Mods done, V&H big radius 2 into 2, SE heavy breather, SE race tuner.

SE race tuner not totally happy but that might be the dickhead at the dealer who loaded the map.

    Any way enjoy the ride

    G'day Sooki,

Thanks for the reply and that's good news about not having any dramas so far (fingers crossed.....).
Out of curiosity, what made you decide on the SE & V&H combination? Were there any other brands you were considering and were all of these mods done at the dealer (that f^+**d up the map)?
    Cheers,
    Andy.

     Andy

All mods done by the dealer and purchased With the bike.

V&H was my choice for sound and looks.

My mates already have big radius so it was just a follow the sheep kind of thing.

SERT tuner is not performing well with popping etc on decel so the map they loaded is BS

I have ordered a Cobra Powrpro tuner from the states and will give that a go Asti self tunes the bike as you ride.

If the Cobra works out well then the SERT will go on eBay.

If the cobra is crap then I will send it back.

    cheers

Yes i purchased a 2012 fatbob the main complaint i have is that the suspension f/r aren't great especially the rear shocks there absolutely a waist of time, there shit in this day and age and the price u pay u would expect decent suspension.Other than that there not to bad. I also own a Suzuki B king and it is a way better engineered bike than the Harly and cost $13000 less .

    Andy,

I have a 2012 FatBob...fitted V&H 2into2, SERT and Stage 1 air...had some decel pop but was managable.. then it was fitted with 211 cams and worked heads.... goes just brilliant... no more decel pop.... and as they say..."Blows ur hair back".

    Minor irritations:...

    • not everyone in the dealerships knows what fits what anymore.... pays to really nut it out yourself first....
    • solo bag for the dyna's- must remove pillion peg and support bracket-can't have both solo bag & Pillion peg
    • Digital Oil Temp - doesn't fit with V&H 2into2
    • ABS Brake line setup on front (Manifold)... need to replace lowers if extending uppers when changing Bars...
    • HeadLight setup - (international one eyed)... Domestic version (American) - availability/selection of bulbs in Aust not good

My FatBob is my first Harley...  I've spent a bit of time and effort in getting it to "Fit" me... Bars, Seat, controls etc... now it's a dream to ride.

Some food for thought..... It was suggested that 583 S&S cams and Fueling Rollers would also work well with the 103.

I've thrown a bit of coin at my FatBob... and I've enjoyed every bit of it..

I'm keen to learn more about the ABS fittings on the front end and what will be required when swapping out bars, risers, extension blocks etc. Anybody made any mods to the front end that has required changing or altering the front brake line?

    I have a 12 fatbob with V&H 2-1 big radius, V&H V02 A/F, SE 254e cams and a SERT
I got it Dynoed at Pro Cycle last week and she's got 97 HP and 109 TQ. Great bike the only problem iv had is a leaking front brake master cylinder apart from that it's a great bike.

    G'day Fellahs,

Thanks for all the feedback, it's certainly given me a bit to think about...
It's good to see blokes are generally happy with what they've done and haven't had much in the way of problems with the bike itself.
I've seen one or two other comments like agw's about the suspension, so I'll be pretty interested to see what it's like for myself.
So the exhaust, tuner and air filter are still at the top of the list. Just gotta make a freakin decision on the brands, particularly the exhaust and tuner......Argh my head hurts. I'll have to wait and see if the suspension makes an unexpected (and un-budgeted for) appearance on the list, but that'll have to be further down the track.
Anyway, thanks again and roll on June or July, it can't come F*^*#N soon enough!

    Cheers,

    Andy

Hey Dinga, thanks for posting the pic, she looks bloody good in the black denim with the black V&H 2 into 1 and air filter. The dyno figures are damn impressive too.
Just a couple of quick ones, did you do (or get done) all the mods in the one hit?
Also, do you know how much of an increase in HP & TQ you actually got from these mods over stock? ie did she get a run on the same dyno prior to the mods?
And finally, how long did you have the bike for when the front brake master cylinder got the leak?
    Thanks mate for your time.
    Cheers

Gday Gilbo and Andy, The 2-1 performs pretty good and sounds pretty tuff, not to sure what the difference is from stock, all my work was done before the bike was delivered, but from what i have read on forums and websites i think the 103's make about 80 odd Hp stock. As for the problem with the brake master cylinder, it leaked about 2 months after owning it, took it back to the Dealersto replace the seal , and then a month after that they did a rebuild on the brake cylinder as well. I had a problem with the Brake light staying on due to the play in the front brake leaver, but all fixed now was no worries about getting it fixed under warranty. Overall im happy with this setup goe's good looks good and its a dream to ride. I think you will be really happy with your bike.

I phoned the Brisbane dealer this morning to see if they had any in stock. Not a single 1, but they suggested they had a few comming in this month. Not sure if they are pre ordered or not. They seem difficult to find for some reason. Maybe very popular or maybe low stocks available in general.

    G'day Dinga,
Thanks for the info mate and I too reckon I'll be extremely happy with the bike..

Ozymax, yeah mate the Fatbob's are very thin on the ground hence the 5 - 6 month wait for mine to arrive. If the dealer in Brisbane says he's got a few coming in this month, that might be my cue to hit my dealer up and ask a few questions!!

I dropped into the dealer today and lo and behold, they had two brand spankers denim black Fatbobs on the floor.... He seems to think the blue pearl one I've ordered isn't too far away!!
