Hi everyone,I was told that the XR1200X (black engine)  is a higher spec engine compared to the earlier XR1200(silver engine) does anyone know for sure or is this urban myth(bullshit)

I have search the net looking for specs but can't find anything,anyone point me in the right direction.

After a little more digging it seems that the only difference between the XR1200  engine and the XR1200X engine is paint colour.

Now whats the deal with Buell heads?

Is it worth finding some or am I better off modifying the XR heads?

The only difference between the xr and the XRX apart from paint colour is the suspension set up. The XRX runs adjustable preload Showa big piston front end, whilst the Xr is not adjustable and the XRX runs adjustable dampening of rebound external reservouir Showa shockers. The XR shockers are like pogo springs. So with a modification to the suspension the xr is exactly the same specs as the XRX.
