If I had hair I'd pull it out. 1991 Ultra Classic Electraglide EVO wont start. Petrol is there, plenty of volts, starter cranks well, sparks are there, just backfires.

have you checked the timing,was it running recently and was it running ok then,crank sensor possibly just my 2 cents

It was running clarkie, ok but not 100%.

Remember the anagram FAST  1. Fuel

                                                    2. Air

                                                    3. Spark

                                                    4. Timing

For the engine to start these 4 things must be correct.

Fuel could be stale, perhaps the wrong fuel or fuel filter blocked.

Air Filter could be completely blocked.

Spark plugs are clogged up; gaps wrong or passed their use by date.

Timing, self explanatory.

 

if ya still runnin the black box ignition it couldve died they can go slowly then boom nothin winds over but wont start
even if ya got spark it still could be in the box
or could be ya sensor in cam cover they can fuck up all at once too def in ignition to me seein as it was runnin before if ya squirting fuel an motor winds its ign

Thanks guys, Bugger me it just started first pop and I took it for a blast no probs. The pattern is next time just as likely to not start and backfire.
