news overnight that some dude got caught and charged with high range DUI on a motorised pushbike , not wearing helmet , no licence , and driving vehicle unregistered ... ok , not all the facts are out and i can see the point of police getting this guy off the road if for no other reason for his own safety .. but to charge him with all these offences ?  musta been a quiet night

There is a moron who rides a motorised (2 stroke) mountain bike around town & I wish they would book him. He does the same speed as other traffic but I wouldn't think he has a chance in hell of stopping as quick as a car or motorbike. When he see's coppers he switches the motor off.

I know of three where I live & the only reason they use them is all have lost their licenses for DUI

Do the crime, pay the fine or do the time. I have no sympathy for these guys. He's most probably an alco. Now if only he was on a Harley it would be justified right? He could of been on a tricycle, same result. But you are right about worse crimes being committed. But nothing will stop people doing these sort of things.

(THE rider of a motorised pushbike has been charged with high range drink-driving in SydneyPolice from the Bankstown Local Area Command stopped the 36-year-old man at Yagoona about 9.20pm (AEST) yesterday.

The man was breath tested with a positive result and taken to Bankstown Police Station where a breath analysis returned a reading of 0.252, police said.

He has been charged with high range drink-driving, using an unregistered vehicle, having no licence and not wearing a motorcycle helmet.)

Taken from the Herald Sun 22 april 7.10am.

Why should he be treated any differently to other road users. If the prick was drunk he shouldnt have been on the road. Full stop.

Its ironic, most blokes who are riding motorised pushbikes are usually there because they were caught driving their actual vehicles DUI!
