what is the working rev range for Iron833

EDIT: title should read Iron 883, Doh...

I'm wanting to fit an aftermarket exhaust to the bike but after spending countless hours trawling the HD forums in Oz and USA, looking at videos on Youtube, i'm finally narrowing down an exhaust choice.

But before I do, i'm wanting to know what the effective rev range is for the Iron, considering it doesn't have a tacho, how do you tell what revs it's doing?  Does anyone have a tacho fitted or know what revs the bike should do when working through the gears?

I have seen a chart that shows a Dyno of an exhaust i'm keen on but i'm curious to see how it relates to the Harley rev range.

I know about the differences between short/long exhausts for V-twins compared to inline engines and the torque curve being in the lower or upper end depending on the type of pipe, pipe diameter, baffle fitment, duals, 2 into 1 (best for low torque but can't bring myself to put one on the bike).

I don't want peak power but really good torque that makes you grin when you wind the throttle on....plus a better note than the stock pipes.

BTW any good tuners to chat with in Adelaide about pipes?  I have read on this thread about a guy in Victor Harbour but would like someone a bit closer to work with on my bike as it gets it's bits.

    Cheers for advice.

Thanks for the replies so far.

It seems the working rev range is between 2000 and 4000RPM (obviously it will go higher to the rev limiter) with most torque being developed around 3500 to 4500RPM.  With this in mind i'll continue looking for an exhaust that compliments that range.

Next stage will be the air cleaner, most likely Screamin' Eagle and remap of the EFI.

Thanks Scouser for info on Hood Engineering, do you happen to have any contact numbers?  I tried a quick google search but no joy.

Nev Lush is the name i've heard before (Victor Harbour) so will sus that out too.  Another was Cycle Shak Tune Ups in Salisbury South.

BTW, I have found a very neat instrument cluster.  Motogadget has a compact readout that replaces the handlebar clamp for 1" bars.  Really neat engineering.  http://motogadget.com/vehicle-type/h-d-custombike.html

    Cheers,

Easy when you hit the rev limiter then its time change gears :-)
