Unfortunately it's nothing new. Been happening for a long time. I go nowhere near the popular bike roads anymore - especially the Spur. Don't even like riding down to Melbourne now.

I was out on the Buell 2 weeks ago & had an unmarked car behind me. I'm expecting a letter.

Its a shame things like this happen. To make a complaint ensure that your bike passes the checks then make your complaint. If you dont they will only say that Constable Blogs has had "X" amount of years on the roads and knows what loud is etc. I had that for a speeding charge that he was a highway patrol officer for so long that he could determine the speed of a vehicle just by looking at it coming down the road. Pity the idiot didnt take into account that I went and measured the distances from detection and where I stopped, the distance covered, speeds stated and my cars breaking capabilities etc. Turns out that if I was doing the speed I was suppose to be doing I would have been 500 metres or more further up the road then where I stopped. Case dismissed. I love smart arse cops especially when they are wrong.

4 times in just over 12 months for me Cricket.

It's really pissing me off. Last one was with the new screamin' eagle slip ons that have the EPA stamp on them. Got it tested and it's 96db @ 2650rpm, i'm alowed 98db max. I'm carrying the sound test around with me everytime I go anywhere to try and use it as proof. Doubt it will help though.

Issuing noise defects to Harley Davidson riders must reduce the rate of road deaths, break and enters, armed hold ups, terrorists, assassinations, tax fraud, people smuggling, violent assault, world wars, solar flares etc.

i hate riding in Victoria cause of the policing .. the only upside is that it would seem most Victorians also hate the lengths that police will go to catch you ..so at least you get plenty of warnings from fellow motorists .

my 2 cents on this crackdown (over the past few years now) is that too many ( particularly harley) dickhead riders have gone out of their way to use extremely loud pipes and secondly and importantly make as much nuisance noise as possible at times in residential areas generating far too many complaints.   i have a few mates that fall into that category and have got attention because of it .   I take the view that loud pipes save lives , but some have the view that loud pipes make your dick bigger

Five shootings over night in Western Sydney and where are the cops?

On Busy roadways in the morning pulling over drivers at 9am so they can grab them for drink Driving after they have been out the night before.

Whats happening to this place? It aint much fun anymore.

I must say though, I ride past 2 Highway Patrol cop's homes everyday to get to the main thoroughfair and they have never hassled me.

The bikes pretty loud, Vance and Hines Slip ons.I try to ride quiet in certain areas though.

One was actually on his bike last month about to take off outside his house and when I turned into the street he nodded.

Might be because I'm known in the area through my family who have always been popular in the Suburb.

    Ozroder,
The manual flap you speak of... I have a factory one on my street bob.
When I decide to go to a louder pipe, is there an aftermarket solution to keep things quite.

I used to get notices when I had my Cagiva Mito 125..

125 2 stroke.. From the factory with a straight through system due to the fact the ADR is given based on a HP vs Revs type thing.. so this little buzz box was rated at legal at 4000RPM, Idle was like 2000RPM.. so take off was 1) Rev buggery out of it (7000RPM) 2) hit clutch 3) launch 4) shift/shift/shift/shift through the 7spd box!

Nice idea, but with little 2 strokes the valves dont start to open until 8000RPM, full open at 10,000RPM, redline at 11,000RPM.. As you can imagine is was one VERY VERY loud bike (not far off a 125cc GP bike with lights).

Was completely legal under the ADR and technically EPA legal, but in the end just became way too much agro.. though one occaision I was sort of asking for it when I nailed it passing a stationary police car at the lights, poor bugger had his window down!! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP! He was not a happy boy :)

    But guys.. its LEGAL!!

Last Christmas I visited Vic for a holiday from Qld. I haven't been pulled up in last 5-6 years. Twice in Vic while on Hols, put it down to out of town plates the first time and bad luck the second (was with some other guys). Both times it was a routine license check, they were very polite and on my way in a few minutes. Wish they were as polite in Qld.

NOISE....NOISE, the bastards, I live in West Brunswick and sick to fucking death of the fucken coppers hovering their fucking helicopters, looking for whatever...shit... I've even gotta turn up Home and away.....

Seriously though, as mentioned by KD, my new pipes are the US V&H, (no baffles) and I don't want my neighbours upset, so I'm very light on the throttle, but the policing here in Vic. is now way over the top with this 3kph limit quite illegal as no instrument manufacturer can maintain such a tight tolerance, including their cameras......Phew....needed to get that out.....VERY pissed with the Copters though...

Sorry Hookey, been away and just now read your reply....shit you copped it big time...some of them are real vindictive vicious pricks and spoil it for the good coppers...and they are out there...

When in the US buying my bike, it is unbelievable as mufflers are not in place at all...loud loud loud, (good too) and the cops only hassle you if you do stupidity...we have a lot to learn on policing here...I'm afraid my generation (Boomers) has seen the best of this beautiful country....we knew FREEDOM, and if we deserved a good foot up the arse we got it, and told to piss off home and don't do it again....over...now is BIG BROTHER is watching......rave over...
