    Hi All,

Question regarding purging all dirty  engine oil. Been advised by a number of guys to do the following,  1. Drain oil from engine.  2. Remove old oil filter.  3.  Install drain plug. 4. Pour in approx 1 To 1 and half lts of new oil.  5.  Get Clear hose about 1mt, fit over outlet where oil filter scews on, put other end of hose in container.  6. Start bike ( for approx 5 to 10 seconds)  . 7. Old dirty will come out, turn bike off when you see new oil .  8. Install new oil filter, (after filling oil filter with oil , and oiling bead of filter).  9. Fill oil to recommended level.    You guys got advice or opinions on this method ?   The reason I'd like to purge all the old oil out is because I did oil change , and only 2.5 lts of oil came out , that means about 1.5 lts is still in engine.  This option would better than spending of a "Scavenger" I have read about.  Thanks Mark

I think that the bike model has an impact on wether this will work ok.  It has to do with the oil flow route. I'm not exactly sure which bikes this procedure works best on.

BTW, here is a budget scavenger...

    www.2armcyclestore.com/

It does what you describe above.

Thanks Burto, Just Googled the Scavanger video's. On 2007 to present tourer's,( which I have), you are correct.  If I did what was mentioned to me, the engine would'nt be getting oil as I was flushing the old oil out.  Looks like I'll be buying the Scavanger if I want all the old dirty oil out.  PS.  Another plus for the forum, instead of taking as gosple what other people say down the pub!!!   Thanks Mark
