Hey all just a question, I am looking to go from RE to R after not riding for 19 years and want to get a HD. I looked at the 883 and 1200 and I seem a little large 6"1 95kg so im looking into the dyna range and love the look of the Fat Bob.

Big good looking bike but im intersted in your feedback on having it as my first road bike..

    Cheers

If ya like it get on it !

I had my 5'8' 70kg son in law on mine last weekend, he has had his 250cc bike about 2 years. He did about a 100km on the Fatbob could'nt get the grin off his face.

you sound like your big enuff to hold it up,

anything that catches you out while riding is usually your own stupidity. set your own rules and the bike will behave as it should.

My Fatbob now at 30,000 km no dramas

Get out there and do it

Mate, you and me are about the same height and weight. I had 08 Nightster, which although was a great bike, after a couple of hours riding Id be stuffed. I traded it in for a 2011 WideGlide and couldnt be happier with the result. More power more comfort, go the Dyna

Thanks mate , the dealer told me i would be back in a year on the 883 or 1200 so im trying to make the best call now rather than look to trade up in a year.

Go to the dealer and do some road tests, buy whatever takes your fancy.

P.s. Don't let your mates pick it for you, PICK what you want.

I went from a 250cc Suzuki Sports bike that I had only put 8000km on in 12 years. I'm just shy of 6"2 and weigh 70 odd kilos.

Bought a brand new Fat Bob in 2010 and am approaching 10,000km.

Take one for a test ride. You'll love it !

Where are you from Jethro, Wackers in Bris have a day  ( Wed i think ) that you can take a bike for a long run, don't know about other mobs, 09 Bob 32k, 5'10, 85kg very happy, just think what you want your bike to do, eg. tour, around town, 1up or 2up,& like Pisspour said ride to your limits

I had a Low Rider years ago. Just got back into harleys with a Fatbob 2 months ago. Farkin awesum bit of kit. Love it. Although a Switchback looks pretty good to. Like everybody says, go down to the shop, have a few rides, work out which one you like the most and buy it.

Go for the Dyna, i had a sporty 883 for the first 2 years out grew it very quickly, to small, rough on long trips not enough power.

I went through the same thoughts when I bought my Street Bob.

Im only 75 kgs wringing wet, but im 6'4". I asked a shitload of people what I should be buying and one reply still sticks in my mind.

"Stop fucking about thinking of a sportster, buy the Dyna you will wish you had bought in the first place"

Needless to say I still rate my Street Bob, goes plenty hard enough when I want it to, can carry my missus and some luggage no worries, and I like the heavier, wider 'Dyna' look.

    So what'd ya buy?

I have a 2011 Fat Bob and love it.

I do serious mileage around SA on a BMW1200 GSA - mainly dirt roads. But for everyday riding, give me my Bob, got Vance and Hines Big Bend Radius and it is just awesome to ride.

    You wont look back.
