My question is how much should we be paying to put our bike on consignment? I have my bike for sale in a dealership at the moment (same place

i get all my parts and have had all my services done for years) and they have put an extra $5 grand on top of my price just to have it sit there. On 

top of that the salesman was winging that it did not have much petrol in it. Fucken unreal, I reckon a set price for selling it of about a grand or  

maybe two at the most would be more reasonable.

What percentage of the sale price is 5k? I reckon 5% would be reasonable considering they are doing bugger all for the money.

In retail, consignment figures are usually around 30-50% on top of the sellers asking price. Don't know about the motor trade, just putting it out there.

If you are asking $30k & they are putting almost 17% on top it sounds a bit over the top?

What happens if you sell it privately & the shop has no input in the sale? Do you still need to pay them anything? 

i always run at 10% comish so if you want 20k i put 2k on for me think thats fair or when ive had bikes in shops for sale i tell em you get 10% of wat ya sell it for or 12% if they advertise in mags or justbikes ect ect

Guys your forgeting GST they have to pay it on anything sold......... Also they would have built a margin into it, for tradeins and cash offers....
