$28,495 is the on road price at all dealers as far as I can see......tell em to get fucked and take your money elsewhere.

Sy's Harley did me a good deal last year.  Ring around a few dealers and ask what extras they will offer on top of that price, if they want your business, they will negotiate on extras..........as far as I know they will never budge on the price on a current model bike.

Never been there but never heard much good about Frasers!

Yup, $28495 is supposed to be ride away. I'd buy tell them why I'm buying elsewhere and walk away. Surely there's an agency (fair trade?) that you can complain about this kind of bullshit.

These blokes are right, take ya cash somewhere else and buy your bike!! Generally speaking if the prices is not advertised as ride away; you'll be up for stamp duty, dealer delivery, CTP and rego. However, most companies these days advertise the rideaway price not the dealer price!!

Depending on where you are, get on phone and ring ALL of your local dealers, talk through what you're after get an understanding of what to expect and then when you find someting you like pop in and see them. I'm an absolute stickler for prices and if you spend the time doing ya research you'll definitely get a better deal. Also have a look interstate, was chasing a particular style of car recently and found a brand new one on the border of NSW and QLD for almost $7k cheaper than Sydney prices. Whilst it is a different circumstance, point is that we're in a pretty shitty market and you'll no doubt find a better deal!!

My mother and father in law are pensioners, it is my understanding that you're not exempt from Stamp Duty (could be wrong), although you dont have to pay rego costs for 1 vehicle. If you have two then you're treated as an everday citizen are required to pay full freight!!

He's havin a lend of you! Ask to see the sales manager and if says the same thing then go. The advertised price is the ride away price!

All dealers are different and some will give more than others, Don't accept the first dealers prices, be prepared to shop around and don't be affraid to compare prices in front of the salesman, it keeps him slightly more honest.

Try to get as much as you can!  At least pipes ana tuna ana cleana. Don't show them how excited you are, the more dead pan you are the more they may offer you to get the deal. specially if your going finance, they loooove finance deals betta than cash.$$$.

Finally, get them to agree to 10% off all future parts purchases and get them to write it on the special conditions part F of the dealer form. Tell them you plan to add heaps of accessories to your new ride and you will buy soley off them (even if you don't plan to). It boosts your chances of a win. The salesman puts plenty of energy trying to stitch you up (most of the time) so do your homework and don't be affraid to give them some curry back!

P.S. (I only know this cause i was in the industry for 4 years.) Secret Squirrel.

    GOOD LUCK!

    Hi,

I am talking to a few dealers about a wide glide here in Melbourne and it is all included in advertised ride away price.

But trying to getting a "good" price on one, all have said no discounting on bike price, so far best offer is list price and a set of SE pipes which I have to put on myself!!

    hehehehe

    thanks

If the ADVERTISED PRICE does not include all costs it must STATE SO. Ask for him to write it on an official dealership letter head that the advertised price does not include Stamp but does include every thing else.
Thank him for addmitting he is ripping you off and you will consider reporting the dealership.

Clarity in Pricing legislation - refers to recently introduced legislation which has made changes to the way pricing is displayed to consumers. The legislation aims to enable consumers to compare similar products and make informed purchasing decisions. As a result of this legislation, we have made some changes to our site which we believe will assist consumers in comparing products.

Ride Away No More to Pay - this price includes government costs borne by the consumer, such as stamp duty. On occasion, the provision by a dealer of both an Excludes Government Charges and Ride Away No More to Pay price may result in the Ride Away No More to Pay of a bike being displayed which is over and above the price range you have entered. The reason for this is to enable a consumer to conduct an "apples with apples" comparison with any other Exc Govt. Charges motorbikes or accessories on the website which meet the search criteria they have entered (eg: private seller bikes).

Excl. Govt. Charges or EGC - stands for "Excludes Government Charges". The price includes the price of the motorbike or accessory, GST, dealer delivery (for Brand New Bikes in Stock) and motorbike or accessory options and accessories. It may also include any known incentives offered by the dealer. EGC excludes stamp duty and other government charges. Some dealers have chosen to provide this pricing to enable you to more accurately compare this dealer's pricing to a private seller's pricing, and/or because they do not remit those government charges on your behalf. You should be aware that you will be required to remit those charges to the government direct.

Private seller - a private seller is a person who sells a motorbike or accessory on the Carsales network who is not a Licensed Dealer. A private seller is not required to stipulate government charges such as stamp duty, registration and transfer fees in their selling price.

Dealer BNMIS - stands for Dealer Brand New Motorcycles in Stock. Due to new Clarity in Pricing legislation, some dealers may not be able to give you a price (refer POA explanation below) and will require further information from you in order to provide a price for the motorbike or accessory. They may also be an "Excludes Government Charges" or a "Ride Away No More to Pay" dealer (refer Excl. Govt. Charges and Ride Away No More to Pay explanations above). On occasion, the provision by a dealer of both an Excludes Government Charges and Ride Away No More to Pay price may result in the Ride Away No More to Pay of a bike being displayed which is over and above the price range you have entered. The reason for this is to enable a consumer to conduct an "apples with apples" comparison with any other Excludes Govt. Charges motorbikes or accessories on the website which meet the search criteria they have entered (eg: private seller bikes).

Dealer Used/Demo - stands for a dealer's used or demonstration motorbikes. These dealers may advertise as "Excludes Government Charges" or "Ride Away No More to Pay" (refer Excl. Govt. Charges and Ride Away No More to Pay explanations above).

POA - stands for price on application. Under the Trade Practices Clarity in Pricing legislation, a dealer must provide you with a single figure price when they make a price representation. In this situation, a single figure price cannot be provided to you at this point in time - For example, in the case of a manufacturer, the manufacturer price may not include all costs and charges which you must pay. Alternatively, a dealer may not be able to give you a single figure price until they have further details from you. Eg: further details on the exact motorbike or accessory specifications you are interested in purchasing, and/or the State in which you live.

Price Guide - refers to the price provided to us by a manufacturer for a motorbike or accessory and excludes costs, such as options, dealer delivery, stamp duty, and other government charges, that may apply. Always check the single figure price with the seller of a motorbike or accessory before purchasing.

Generic motorbike or accessory or Generic New Bikes - refers to the general description of a motorbike or accessory that is available in Australia.

Its illegal. Just like putting up a price and then saying 'oh but theres also the gst' Under law it must be included in the advertised price. Contact the ACCC theres a very simple complaints form on their website and they have nothing better to do than chase these theiving mongrels up.
