Hi Guys after some advice on the following. Fitting a 3' BDL Beltdrive and a new spyke starter. The problem I have is that the jackshaft doesnt want to push into the housing on the beltdrive frame. See pics below

The hole in the holder section is 17.49mm or 0.687"

The shaft on the jackshaft is 17.09mm or 0.685"

Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated.

Umm that should fit as the shaft is smaller than the hole in the holder, unless you have written them down wrong. Have you checked the shaft for Burrs ect that may be stopping the shaft sliding into the holder?

Could you throw the shaft in the freezer overnight ?

Might want to double check your calcs, 17.49mm = 0.688" and 17.09=0.672" which leaves 0.016", might be an ovality issue

gday burnzi do you know anyone with an adjustable hand ream,by using this you will get a nice round hole, hone may not get it right as it could follow existing shape, ive got one in warrny if you feel like a drive, lol, your mate with lathe may have one as well.

it needs honing to true it up but 0.4 to 0.5mm is a very loose tollerance
