Lots of variables,is it stock or a stroker or bigbore, compression-too much / too little, cam?, straight out exhaust?, timing, plug heat range, leads, etc, but looking at your carb i`d say that is the problem, replace it with a stock cv and aircleaner and get the bike starting and running well this will give you confidence in what you have, then put the big carb back on, ask around and see what jets others use for the same setup as you.

    Thanks Houli,

It a fresh rebuild a little on the wild side i got the cases and whent from there, It only got about 10 km on the motor. It will randomly start when its warm sometime with the choke on sometime's with out , its just pure random . And no way will it start when the motors cold with out the roller starters

    • 98"
    • 4 5/8 stroke
    • Delkron cases
    • S&S dual plug heads - with compression releases
    • Jims super powerglide kit (evo style oiling)
    • Unkown cam ( came with the cases )
    • H4 magento
    • Cycle electric - no battery stator and rectifier
    • Super G carby
    • Straight pipes with 4" baffles
    • Plugs are gapped  0.17
    • Unkown jet sizes in carby

I have just put in decompression plates aswith the comression releases on its to light to kick and they "pop" after one kick.

Have you checked for air leaks around the carb and inlets?? how far out is the mixture screw ?? does it need choke to start when hot ?? so just a few variables just with the carb to start with and do you have spark at the plug hot and cold could be resistance in the lead as well

I'm sure others will put in better advice but thats my 2 cents worth
    cheers Tony

Thanks tota ill take all the advice i can get at the moment.

Cannt locate any air leaks and utlisiing o-ring tpe heads with aviation style clamps, i have turned the mixture in a bit as backing of the throttle it give a couple little coughs through the exhaust . I seem to have more luck with the choke on when kicking warm and with out compression releases on. plugs are non resitor type copper core plugs ( only ones i can get) everything is is resistor type with solid core plug leads to suit the Hunt mag

change the maggie to electronic ign  i think you can hide them in the maggie if you want that look  but you will never kick start proper with a 98' er stroker + maggie , take  the cover off the maggie  & the spark plugs  then kick the motor over you will see that the maggie only turn's about a 1/4 too 1/3  of a turn  per kicker stroke not enough too crank up a spark only when your luckly , electric start is good for a maggie , the other shit  thing about the maggie is the coil windings inside have & very good electician check her out , i think you can hide a electronic ign inside them ,                            e.g kick start only turns motor over B.T.D.C. too after T.D.C. maggie is driven off the camshaft  & that is 1/2 crankshaft speed so the maggie is not turned enough too crack a spark

    thanks racer..

Makes sense... I might switch over to the Morris M5 then that has the winding spring inside it so kicker doesn't start the enigne it just winds the spring to release a hotter spark what do you think?
