Hi,
On the 2012 Street Bob, there is a valve part way down one of the exhaust pipes that closes when the throttle is applied.
When at idle, it is open and the bike has a bit of noise to it. When the throttle is applied, the exhaust is less noisy.
Does anyone know whe this vale is here?
Is it for EPA compliance (Noise) or is these so other mechanical reason?
Thanks,
Dave
Dealer opened mine all the time through computer , 2012 SuperGlide.
Did a search and discovered a zodiac trick box. Couldnt find where to get this or a similar item. The trick box sounds like to prevents fault codes and forces vale to default, open or closed via a selector switch. Nice option! Scouser, do you recall if the article spoke of the trick box? Anyone have this article.
I may have misheard, but I thought the valve was there for when you hit 6th gear. Apparently it went shut in 6th to give it a little more back pressure to allow a little more torque in top gear. Might have heard wrong but I was pretty sure I heard right.
After a tune though mine has been disabled permanently as I don't need it anymore.
Hesh
Me personally? No. When the slipons were installed by the stealer at time of purchase, they did not perform any changes to the bikes ECM.
Only when I added a filter over 12mths later did the valve get disabled by the tuner.
i heard that the active exhaust and intake valves open at 3000rpms...
I removed mine right from new so dont know for sure
