Mid & Wide - Whats the difference

Hey guys, Quick question for you, been investigating alternate front ends for my Iron and don't understand what the variance between the mid and wide glides are? I imagine it has something to do with the width if the inner hub, however don't understand how much this will effect my ability to put a better selection of wheels on the Sporty.

For example, what are the 48's? Are the mid or wide, and if its mid then why would you bother going to wide when you can install a 16 x 3 using the same set up as a 48? Been looking at Hawg Hawlters mid\wide glide front ends with 5 degree rake, not quite ready to purchase but starting down the research phase and am a little confused about the best way to go.

    Cheers Waz

Great question mate. Have you quizzed Walka? I like the wide front end he has for about 1k. As soon as Im back in the game thats me....springers are too bloody hard to work out. Im terrified of my bike owing me more than the cost of a new dyna!

06 and on Dynas are mid glide apart from wide glide which are of course wider and also have extra rake and fat bob which is wide glide width but without the extra rake.

Thanks for the input gents, really appreciate it!! Have got my eye on a set of new trees with 5 degree rake, keeping the same fork tubes but wouldn't mind getting a better selection of wheels for the ole girl!!

    Cheers
