hi all,

i am new to the forum and also new to being on a bike having only recently recieved my open license. i have growen up around bikes and ever since i remember could not wait to get on a bike. now i have my license im no longer borrowing the old mans bike for a lap round the block but looking into getting my own. i have found a few i like but have come up stuck between buying new or a import bike. i have been warn'd off import bikes by harley dealerships whether this is to just get my buisness or not im not entirely sure. the facts i have been stated are that import bikes have bad re-sale value and often have major defaults. i understand there are other forums on this but i am mainly asking to anyone who has dealt with a certain bike shop that imports harley's in nerang qld, i have been there a few times to look at a few different bikes and feel as if the story i am getting is not the fool if even the real story of the bikes history, ive been told aslo that there is alot of great success stories but also a great deal of heart breaks. any advice is much appreciated.

As far as your questions go, there are a few importers on this site and alot of guy's in the know so i'll just let the experts answer that one.

buying an import is just the same as buying any second hand bike, treat it the same, check the bike out, check the paperwork out,if you are happy with both do the deal. show me a bike in Oz thats not an import, if you wanna be fussy about it? its a buyers market out there at the moment, and the reality is that there is no price advantage over imports to local bikes. do your homework and you will find a non import for the same money. cant understand whatthefuss is all about regarding imports etc, they are just bikes, plenty of dealers will spin you a line of shit about imports, most of it utter bullshit.most of the importers would be outta business or in the can by now, if you believe all the bullshit the dealers will tell you.
