Well after 12 months of stuffin around and saying maybe next month I'v gone and ordered the TTS. So be prepared for all the usual questions.

At least that means that I can finally put on that K&N air cleaner thats been in the box for a yr.

Before I waste hours and hours on tuning the pipes I have, (standard with slip ons of no particular name) I am seriously looking at a set of D&D Lowcats....Comments please good or bad. My riding style is very much about using the torque available in the low to mid range RPM.

    Over to you.

Great choice on the tuner and you won't be disspointed. Exhaust systems are a personal choice thing but the sensor bung depth and location is a make or brake with any closed loop tuning device. Having said that I have had three exhaust on my bike and the Bassani road rage 2-1 works for me in the low to mid range on my 07 bagger.

Thanks HB. Have you or anyone else had issues with O2 probe depth in the D&D Lowcat??

    Regards Russ

Really happy with my TTS ... no need for dyno. Steel Horse Performance in Brizzy sent my TTS and also a couple of tunes via email. First tune popped a bit at 2500rpm. Second tune perfect, just done a heap of K's and running real good. 5 mins on the computer all done.

Not sure with the lowcat as I have never seen a set but most aftermarket pipes have the bung depth wrong but they have seen the light and D&D and others are fixing the problem. Normally the bungs need trimming down to lower the sensors into the exhaust flow to obtain a good reading. My Bassani 2-1 road rage was a nightmare and needed both bungs cut off the headers with new one's welded back on with correct depth and angle.

It's here, it's here. Fitted the K&N air filter tonight and installed all the TTS software on the puter. Resisted the urge to plug into bike. I'll take the advise from the other post and re read my manual tonight. Then get stuck into it tomorrow night.

Just make sure you save what's in the bike onto your computer BEFORE you program the bike with something new.

I'm about to order a TTS also.
Steve....whilst you're around...I know from reading your other posts that you have experience in tuning cars also.
What are your thoughts on using a wideband to tune the VE tables....or is it overkill with the bikes?
I have no experience tuning bikes yet....but have been playing around with cars for a bit.
I use EFILive and Tunercats at present.
    Thanks

    Hey Steve / All

Thanks I definately did remember to save the map. Read the manual and followed to to the tee.

Loaded the AE 176 and wow, definately more grunt there to be had. Even if I still have the stuppid flapper in the exhaust.

So keen to ride today I fought the cold and dodged all the dam Kangaroos just to see if it was real.

    NO more decel pops.

Will definately try a few different maps and then when I get to steal the wifes laptop I might even get a V tune under my belt.

    Very happy rider.

Good onya mate.  IF you are happy with what youhave now don't be in any reat hurry t strat playing around.  Harley's are a finiky beast, they will show you their angry side when you make mistakes .  Tuning these buggers is not all beer and pancakes, it taks a time and effort.

Having said that hal bloody ball, make a mistake! shit just go back to the start and try again.  The whole saystem is just so damm impressive

Thanks for the reply Steve. Wideband O2 sensors is what I'm talking about.
    I guess I didn't explain myself properly.
As the bikes don't run a MAF I'm guessing they're not really a 'true' closed loop setup? More like a 'semi' closed?
I expect they just rely on the narrow band O2's to pull the fuel trims into line?
What I was thinking was....use the wideband O2 to setup the VE tables and then re-initiate the narrow band O2's and go from there.
Only issue I can see is the Narrow band O2's will possibly 'undo' all the work of the WBO2 tuning? (unless as you suggested I stay in open loop/speed density).
Does that make sense at all?
    Thanks

If your using the Bosch LSU4 sensor then you have a Broad Band. The issue comes from no two of these things reading the same. Bosch spells out what you must do to apply proper corrections to use the LSU 4 sensor but each and everyone I check does not do it! I have checked a lot of them too! So now you have an error that you do not have with the stock sensors. The error is what comes along and bites you in the a$$. It has nothing at all to do with having or not having a MAF. They are a TRUE Closed Loop system just as much as any car is. I always run Closed Loop so I do not have to worry about fuel quality as much. Here state side it just varies way to much these days not to run it as equipped. There are people who will tell you you do not need it but most of them also still think a carburator is better.
