I have a mate who has just had a bit of trouble getting a Vic RWC for is bike (metric) because he had to source standard pipes. I have also found a few posts here about having to have factory standard pipes before you can get a RWC in Vic.

What I haven't been able to find is the actual rule or regulation that states this requirement. Does anyone have a link to any info where it states that this is a legal requirement?

No info or links, but I would seriously doubt it is a legal requirement in Vic.
They tried it on in NSW, but the law got overturned.
It's probably more the fact that 90% of aftermarket pipes are too loud, and the RWC guys are
just trying to protect their RWC licence.
And they probably can legally refuse to do a RWC if they choose.

I'm Interested to know the truth as well.

Its the noise level. There should be a little sticker that tells you the Db at so many RPMs - most aftermarket pipes exceed it.

So if after market pipes were quiet enough it shouldn't be a problem? That's not what people seem to have been told. It's a case of must have factory pipes or no deal.

I think I see the picture though, the RWC guys don't have the proper equipment to test noise levels so they are covering themselves by only allowing standard. Still sucks.

What if you turned up at the RWC place with a certificate from a testing station showing your pipes were legal?

I would think that would be a good plan.
And have a copy for the RWC guy to keep.

The problem is that if they make a mistake and are caught out, they lose thir RWC licence...... Forever.....
Most aren't willing to take the risk, and because they have to take so many photos (and keep them for 7 years) theybare covering their arse.

Have I got this right? If a bike they tested and passed gets done for noise they get their licence revoked unless they can prove with photos that it had different pipes when tested? What sort of country are we living in?
