    Hi Kymbo,

It looks like you have a digital speedo (top image) is that correct? What was the cost and where did you buy it?

    Regards,
    Troy

Hi Kymdo, Looks good, found more info here http://www.hdforums.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=71&forumid=19&postid=22371&view=topic What did you do with your old one? My gauge is in MPH so would be good to have a KPH one.

Thanks for the offer but I will pass for now, I have had no luck replacing speedo faces / glass in the past!

I was thinking of just using a GPS, what do you think about that idea?

    Hi Seaeagle,

looking at your pic it looks like the footpeg is bolted at the pedal pivot as Kymbo said. The peg was usually mounted at one of the master cylinder bolts, usually rear but some changed to the front one to get a bit extra legroom and modified the pedal as Kymbo did. If you get a closer pic of that area we could have a better guess. The right hand bracket might even be a home made job, God knows we used to make lots of stuff when the aftermarket stuff was not available or too expensive (Shovel owners and ex Shovel owners tend to watch their pennies and be very inventive.). The way it is set up now puts the peg too close to the ground for my liking. Also, do you have a kicker?, can't see the kicker arm on the pic but it looks like it has the return spring there (can't see clearly on the pic.)As far as I'm concerned Shovels and kickers go together. If you decide to play around with things be aware that 77 was a year in which there were changes with the cam gear/pinion gear/breather gear and also a new tranny case with a new main drive gear and spacer. You usually should not use older parts as the new changes are an improvement and also the old parts will not fit or cause problems if they do. The exception to this is the clutch throw-out bearing.Harley changed to the wafer style bearing in 75, the old bearing is much better and is available aftermarket.

    Have fun, The Don

    OK mate,
Looks to me like you've got the same set-up as Kymbo (roughly), only the guy that did yours didn't
put the peg on the master cylinder but drilled a hole in front of the pivot point instead. The best solution
would be to do exactly what Kymbo did with his set-up. mount it on the front bolt of the master cylinder, this
levels it out with the left side peg and then modify the brake lever as Kymbo did so it sits below
the peg. Obviously this will mean modifying the pedal. kymbo will probably give you the good oil
on how to do it or how to get it done if you are not able to do it yourself.
Now as far as the kicker goes, you have a proper kicker cover there. The kicker shaft appears
to have a chrome cover on it. This is good as it means all the internal gear should be there and
all you need to do is remove the cover and fit a kicker arm to the shaft. There are two types, the
older one is a bent arm with a swivel pedal at the top and the later style pivots at the bottom and
swings out for clearance, your choice.

PS: Get yourself a manual, they are invaluable, I prefer the Clymer one.
