It's 1993 heritage softail engine is stock with a SE ignition and the breather and pipes, the jets are the factory ones. Ive spent sometime adjusting the mixture screw but Im still getting the occasional cough through the carbie when I back right off and then give it a big squirt on the throttle and the pipes "pop" when going down hill or when I back off it on high rpm, this is my first Harley and a bit of a learning curve for me so any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

How many turns out on the mixture screw works best ? does it need choke when cold ?
This will tell you where your at with the pilot.
Impossible to properly jet your bike for you by remote, but go up 5 points max' on the main would be a start.
There is some good reading on the Net' for Carb' jetting tips.

I put a 48 pilot jet in today and the bike goes a shit load better seems just a little bit lean right up in the top of the rev range though I havnt swapped the main jet yet though would that be the cause of it?

I did the test and it all checks out good so I'll stop messing with it!

Thank you for your help and advice it's been very much appreciated and I've learnt a lot about tuning carbs
