    Hi guys,

Whats the verdict on HDs Denim paint?  - does it hold up well againt the elements?  Is it a good quality paint?  Is it easy to care for?

I'm wanting to get a Fatboy Lo in Denim black, but seeing as though this type of paint has only been out a few years I wasn't sure about it.

    Cheers, berms

Demin paint came out in 2006, still lots around looking good, not hard to maintain,
just dont put any polish to it or you'll get a shine...

My only complaint about denin is that it is supposed to fade but I haven't seen one yet that did! Maybe it takes a long time.

Dead easy to clean. Use dishwasher detergent in water. As Kikinon says, keep away from car washing stuff because it will put a gloss on it.

When it doesn't need a serious wash just use Windex, or other ammonia based cleaner to remove finger marks etc. Comes up like new.

    A great look!

I'm with Taffy, I was hoping to get some fade marks on mine like a well played guitar, nothing so far. Otherwise though, no complaints.

Love the denim, by I'm not keen for the fade. That's just me, but to get the fade I would suggest leave it in the sun more often. Quite a good wearing paint, I was speaking with another member who polished the denim black off and he said that even paint stripper did not make dent in the paint. It wasn't until he sanded it with sand paper that the paint came off. But it is easy to scratch in my opinion.

Yep, hit it with industrial strength paint stripper...................went for a walk, had a beer, hovered over it for a while, went for another walk, had another beer, wiped it off and it had done fuck all!! haha, the denim paint is extremely strong, took me ages to sand it off!!

I hate it personally, really liked it to begin with but there are so many of them floating around on various HD models that it has lost its appeal (my opinion only)

I used to buy Levi's (denim) with the intention of them fading, that was half the character.
the washed fine, bit of cold power around they went

now denim paint, I would have expected it to fade, its denim, well maybe not cloth but just the name implies

I dunno why everyone seems to think you can't put a wax on it. I use a 'wet look, high shine' wax on mine and it doesn't add anything, just protects the paint, most of the advertising about shine etc from waxes is bollocks, it's just a clear coat and whats underneath determines the look.

That said, you hardly need to wash it, doesn't show up the dirt, looks good all the time.
