Just bought a kuryakyn hypercharger air filter and I'm gona install it myself. I'm pretty mechanically minded I think and feel confident in fitting it. I was wondering if there is anything I need to know that's not on the instructions. Like does the motor need re jetting or anything similar. By the way I have a 2011 heritage. Thanks in advance.
"Re-jetting" a 2011 EFI Heritage ? Fuck you better read the fitting "destructions" mate... EFI remapping in the ECM is the "terminology" you're after mate.. And yes, prolly a good idea to retune ( Re-map ) the ECM, there are various means to do so..All cost moolah tho ' !!
Sorry for not being perfect but Yeh I know it's fuel injected, I just didn't know what the correct terminology was. But thanks to you I do now.
I hear ya badcooky that's what most of the mates are sayin. Thanks.
On topic question.
Do you need to oil the filter element? I don't recall the instructions saying to but other have said it should be done..
GTEEZ
Thanks Jim. I'm still keen to go on one of these wednesday rides with ya. Don't normally finish till after 6 tho so makes its hard. Your house number is 4 from memory. Shit I hope ive got the right Jim?
I'll definately let you know and thanks again AJ. He actually told me that I paid around $600 for the total conversion. It was only around 15 months ago, but for the life of me I can't recall them saying they were gona put it in. As I said, maybe its something they normally do when taking off the stock pipes.
I actually bought a set of Vance and Hines pipes not slip ons and I'm sure I paid for them separately. If I go rumaging through my receipts I'm sure it would clarify things but I just can't be fucked at the moment.
Well I installed it yesterday. The instructions were very unclear but with a bit of trial and error I understood what needed to be done. My metric and imperial allen keys didn't suit any of the screws (maybe their AF or something) so i had to improvise. As for the filter I took out, it actually was larger than the hyper one I put in. All in all it looks fantastic with no back firing or anything. Performance wise seemed to be no different.
