I am working on a speedo from a 2001 Dyna FXDXT which got a little water inside. Everything is working fine now except for the LCD display screen. An electronics whizz who also rides told me today that Harley Davidson would supply a replacement LCD screen. (Sounded like he was speaking from experience)  Of course when I talked to local HD dealer they said no, only complete speedo. (At exhorbitant price!)

Does anyone know anything know anything about this ?? I cant afford a new speedo.

i own a 01 FXD the speedo on that is same as yours, this bike has been through a lot, including a trip upside down through speed traps at Sydney drags doing about 180kph & the speedo  has never got water in it, its got a lot of hard K's up too. how did that happen?

yes i would say total replacement but check harley wreckers as a lot of people repace with aftermarket so must be some good used ones out there.

This speedo is off a friends bike. Water got in when speedo was off the bike and upside down. There is a hole in backing plate, maybe its there to let water out after it has let it in.  :-)
