I would've had a 48, but for the tank size
    I'd go 48 with a Nightster tank like 48fan's
My 2 bobs worth but go with your heart!

WTF! i was not asking for anyone to choose the bike for me just if people know any pros or cons with the both. It might help with the decision thats all mate.

I'd go with the Nightster because the 48 isn't as good. Don't let anyone tell you that the Nightster is better.

Owned a Nightster and it was a great bike but
personally I think the 48 is tougher looking if you
like that look. Graduated to a superglide now so
happy as a pig in the proverbial ;-)

Yep 48 looks better, but seen some nice nightster too, might as well go for the iron.  Have a look at the sportster gallery, some nice looking bikes on there might help.  Also good bargains out there too.   Good luck.

the tank size on my 48 isnt a problem 'cos my arse is killing me after 100k anyway.

Im a big sporty fan & im sure you'll be happy whichever way you go

If I was buying a new Sportster--id wait for the 2012 Sportster 72 to arrive in Oz. I owned a 883 Custom and loved it except two up so I went and bought a 98 Road King. Very much miss the Sportsters handeling though.

I nearly bought the 48 except for the tank size. Looking for a petrol station every 100Km is not an option.
Also they hurt your arse after a while as the seating is not at all comfortable.
Having said that the choice is really all yours. Ride both and take your pick.
You have to be happy with what you buy.

Congrads Tatt, now you can make it yours with ya mods...the bigger tank won't give your mates the shits stopping all the time to fill...
