I need some sort of pad because every time I go for a long ride now I get a sore tailbone which aches for days, so I was hoping someone who might have tried both can give me an honest comparison? I have heard great things about both, and want to get the best there is. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
my bros got an airhawk and he swears by it...used it for long trips at first, but now its a permenate...
Also does anyone know where to buy the airhawks? I know MCA dont have them, they have the gel ones. I wanna go and test them both out personally.
Purchased the Airhawk seat from th Airhawk Guy (top notch service) :-

Paid over the phone with a CC and he posted it overnight to me so I was able to use it on a long ride a few weeks back.
I spent a fair bit of time letting air out during the ride.
I know I haven't got the inflation level right yet - and I guess it might take some getting used too.
- NOT yet convinced that it is a true improvement over the standard FLSTN seat.
- Didn't really like the sensation of sliding around. Felt a bit like sitting on a greased oven tray.
In my hunt for comfort the next test will be lambswool.
But didnt you just tell him to toughen up 1 page ago hmmm
Bit bipolar mate
AirHawk
I have a pressure injury from operating mining machinery. After sitting for an hour it's like a hot knife being slowly pushed into my bum cheek. I usually suffer for days once I set it off and I have to get into anti inflamatories to settle it again. Long car trips, plane trips and bike trips are literally a pain in the arse. Nuerophen or the likes control the pain.
As for the toughen up remarks, some people are a little narrow minded. Everyones make up, anatomy, injuries are different! We can't all be perfect finely tuned atheletes like some!
I started with sheep skin and found it flattend out after a few rides and was only good for keeping your seat cool. I then bought an Airhawk and haven't looked back. Can usually last half a days riding before hitting the pain killers. But better than nothing. I have heard the gel seats cause sweating but probably no more than your seat would.
The Airhawk takes some time to get used to as it alters your sitting position slightly and feels unstable, but with anything, the more you use it the more you get used to it. Mine feels normal now.
Depending on your 'condition' it maybe the answer.
Also try to alter your sitting position by moving handlebars, changing riser heights etc. Might help.
Bunch of blokes talking about their sore arses..........after Mardi Gras weekend.......................who would have thought
Just got back from a big trip on my airhawk2 and I would highly recommend them.
