Steering and Fall Away

So recently you might know that I installed a new set of  raked trees and was happy as Larry - However, after speaking to a mate who was born on a HD, I decided to check the fall away on the steering head.

Checking YouTube I saw some "how-to" videos and checked the service manual.  I tested mine and it was WAY off!!  Very loose according to the numbers.  The fall away is supposed to be between 1 and 2 inches.  Mine was so loose, it was almost impossible to find the balance point.

I followed the instructions and have it right on 2 inches.  Went for a ride and the difference is very noticeable.  The steering was very light before the change, and I thought it was just because of the rake.  However, now that I have tightened it up, the handling is awesome.  Roundabouts are very different now, and the bike feels more solid that it did.

SO... if you have had your front end off and have not done the Fall Away test... go do it.  It makes a difference.

    Cheers
