Hi everyone, new to the forum world and way of things

I've been riding for about 4 years now, on & off - I'm not an everyday rider.

I've been apart of one bike build with the old man, His got a FLH Shovelhead. Nice bike to ride around, but not something I'm after for everyday use.

Ok so I guess I'm following a trend when I say..I want to build a bobber!!
But the thing is I don't. Im leaning more towards an Evo Softail, stripped and modified with the 'bobber theme' - I know it wont be a true bobber. The reason Im leaning towards this is

    1. Dad already owns a nice Shovel which I enjoy riding when the chance rises.
2a. Dad has owned a rigid, and it did wonders on his back
2b. My brother in law built a rigid and wishes he didn't hack up the original frame because a few years went by and we wanted to go back to a swing arm
    3. Softail 'bobber', Soft-Bob, soft-chop [I honestly don't know what to call it] it'll be different and the old man & I can get a bit more riding out of it!

So with that said, Im in the market for an Evo powered Softail :]
Once I work out the kinks and get used to using the forum i'll post up in another section and try to pick some brains with questions

    cheers guys

     G'day Greasy.

An Evo Softail but not a rigid, a bobber but not a bobber, a stripped Heritage but not choppered or anything too uncomfortable like a rigid, with a swing arm

OK, you've got me interested in what one of those is.

Sounds like you want something like a Crossbones

    Hi Greasy

The bike pic you posted looks good! I came across a Japanese website ages ago, they done lots of Evo based bobbers, I wish I could remember the site because you'd see lots of softails and get some good ideas! It actually looks good do see a softail turned into something else other than a wide tired chopper

the FXSTS looks like a perfect starting point should you find one in your price range. A Standard with a Springer set up will be no dramas too - Talk to Chopaweeza for some front end conversion tips. I say go for the 'bobber themed' softail. There will definitely be people who will dislike it and say
    "its not a real bobber!!"
but like you said, you already know you're not building a bobber, so those comments should just slide
