Hey guys,

I want to tidy up underneath my tank because I am running out of space and its pretty cramped under there.  My plan is to cut off the plugs that connect the hand controls and hardwire them using some smaller style plugs, solder, shrinkwrap and patience!!

There was some talk about a tool in another thread that can be used to remove the wires from the plugs and I was hoping someone could let me know exactly what it was, alternatively I will just use a pin or something sharp that will help dislodge the wiring from the plug?

If anyone has undertaken this type of project would also be great to understand whether you experienced any issues or whether it was as easy as I am hoping it will be?

Try the underwire out of a bra, worked a treat on some connectors that I had finished .........till I realised I had put the wrong terminals into the terminal block..... DOH!!

 

Yeah....there is a tool. Basically looks like a small piece of tubing with handle at one end. All it does is pushes the little locking tabs in as you slide it over the pin...and allows the pin to be pulled out the back of the plug. I usually use a piece of welding wire which I sharpen to a long point.
