I need to vent a little and I know this shiit has been brought up before, but most bike related websites SUCK or they don't work. I'm a customer, you should want my business. Instead most websites are puzzles or I just about have to beg to buy anything.
1) FFS if you have a website make sure it actually works (links pics and store etc) - if someone is nice enough to tell you something isn't working fix it and thank them - and let them know its fixed or if your planning on fixing it. Get someone else (not at your work, or who has worked on the site) to test your site and with different browsers - YOU testing it is stupid.
2) List prices - is that so hard? I'm sick of having to ask for prices like a beggar at the door. If there is a VALID reason you can't give a price say it - POA means piss of asshole to me, and that's exactly what I do. And if you ask for my details before you can give me a price you just lost a customer. - or you'll find I'm Mr Pissoff from Upyours Street - your system is retarded if it wants anymore than a postcode for postage cost calculation before I buy.
3) Pictures that you can actaully see the item you're buying. Do I need to explain it?
4) Pictures that show the bike/product from all angles. duh?
5) Specs that go with the product - especially a bike. The more specs the better. What seems trivial to you might be important to me. A downloadable PDF wouldn't hurt.
6) Easy navigation. Don't add pages that do nothing. I don't give a flying fuck if the guy who made the site is good at flash - I came to buy and I want to do it as quickly/easily as possible. Don't waste my time with anything other than what the link promised when I clicked it - make it cool if you want, but fast to load and to the point is all I care about. Also, If its "under construction" WHY HAVE A LINK!?
7) Don't expect I'll ask if I want to know something. I'm a customer, probably an idiot and certainly an impatient S.O.B. I'll go to an easier site and probably pay more.
8) If you list a stock bike price showspics of a stock bike - and maybe a pic with extra
9) ANSWER EMAILS ina timely fashion.
Anyway, some stores missed out on a shitload of money this week due to the stuff mentioned above (and lots of things I can't remember) so congrats. This week I'm looking at a bike to buy in the coming months and its already making me want to find a "webmaster" and cut him. YOU'RE DRIVING ME TO EBAY!!!!!!
I'm not aiming this at any one site in particular (I looked at dozens) but apart from a chosen few (who usually didn't have what I wanted, damit.) I'm really dissapointed.
/rant off.
