Hi, Can i fit the larger rear tyer (Dunlop D407) which is standard on the 2009 model, on the wheel of a  2008 model, which was the smaller tyer. This may be a piss ant question, but I live in the sticks , and I want to get the right answer !!!   PS , if I can, would you recommend I upgrade the front at the same time. Thanks

I'm running a Dunlop elite E3 160/80/16 bias on the rear of my 07 bagger. That's the widest tyre you can get under the rear guard.

After looking at the harley tyre charts, (thanks Stewy)  the (standard) rims are smaller on the 2008 flht compared to the 2009 flht. That being the case, if I bought new rims and fitted the larger D407 tires on the 2008 flht frame, would there , could there any handling problems with this tyre configiration. Am I barking up the wrong tree, thinking I'll get better handling and performance with the D407's, or stay with the standard (smaller) tyres, and save my money? Thanks

Did you scroll down and look at the second table.

It tells you what rim width you need for any given tyre.

you cant fit any wider tyre than the table says.

If you have tyre failure or an accident with the wrong tyre fitted you or whomever fitted the tyre could or would be liable.

Wether you were in the wrong or not

To fit D407 you still need a 4.5-5.5 inch rim

By the table this rim will not fit your bike without modification
