I cruised over to Peter Stevens Adelaide today to look at some leather jackests and was surprised to see they've renovated the place and added a second floor.  I'm probably out of touch with everyone else in Adelaide to whom this is probably old news.

On another note I thought I'd mention that they've got a 15% off sale on all their jackets because of the reno's which is pretty good makes the $500 jacket I was looking at about $425.

Has anyone had any experience with Shift leather jackets, are they any good?

    Jim,

Yes they had plenty of Rjays leather jackets there as well, I checked a few of them out they look pretty good and I think around the same price as you mentioned.

That seems pretty expensive for a jacket that is made in Pakistan. For a bit more money you could buy a Schott or a Buco, made in the U.S.or an Aussie jacket made by KazzMazz, all these jackets have far better leather and finish to the cheaper jackets from Pakistan and Korea.Ohhh an a lot of the Genuine Harley brand jackets are made in Pakistan or Korea,it pays to look at the labels.Had my Schott  jacket for over 25 years, and it is still a better jacket than the new jackets, just can't figure out how the leather seems to have shrunk a little lately though .

Leather is something that you do get what you pay for though.

The Shift seemed pretty good I looked a few others that weren't so good. The leather on the shift was reasoably thick, it had a removable winer liner and armour in the appropriate places. But I'm in a quandry about the whole leather thing. I'll certainly take a look at those other brands.

I think I'm seeing a pattern here, men expand when they drink and women expand when men sober up.

I ended up buying a Dririder climate control textile jacket. It has armour in the shoulders, elbows, forearms and has two removeable liners one for waterproofing and one thermo liner. It's a good all year round jacket. With the two liners removed it breathes really well in summer. I tested it out when we whent on our run was 30 degrees and didn't break a sweat wearing it.
