Didnt take very long for me to want something a bit higher on the Bob.

I have been researching my arse off, but I'll get to one part number, to one bit of terminology to another piece of kit that 'may / may not be required' etc...Bushings, one piece top mounts, risers...etc

I know someone out there in lala land has done it, please - educate this poor fool.

I could walk into the Dealer and ask em to do it for me and walk out with it done, and a prolapsed anus for free...or I could put my hand up and admit, I need genuine help

    Thank you,

    Daniel

I got some cheap apes from the states.

Cables all came from Magnum. But since heard Walk at VPW can get his hands on good cables, so talk to him first.

Depends on what thickness bar you are going to go with, you might have to drop your fork tubes by a couple of mm due to that fuck up of a one piece tree and riser that Harley came out with.

You can go the other way and change your top tree and put your own risers and go with whatever thickness you like or you can go with a 1" bar and just add a top clamp to trhe existing risers.

    Hope this helps. Cheers

I'd like to aim for 14-16" bars. If using the existing risers, I'd be happy with 16"...if I had to go aftermarket risers and had to fawk around with 2 inches before I put the bars on, then 14" would suffice.

    I really appreciate the help

the last 2 bits relate to yer risers, if yer intend on keepin yer stockers ferget about those last ones.In my opinion yer may wanna go with 2 inch risers or maybe 4 inch at most on 14 inch apes.If yer considerin takin on this job yerself I can walk yer through it cause I have just done it meself

    July 11 , 2011 " Risers for Street Bob Harleys "

American made parts are hard to beat. Most of us pounding out parts are doing it because we just love to make stuff. The money sure helps but if your like me , you make stuff even when you don't make money. Just because your good doesn't mean you'll be making any money . Seems we all need a touch of luck to keep everything running smoothly  . I sort of feel i am in the first group. I GOT NO LUCK !.
Still waiting for the phone to ring . One of these days ! .
Lately i have been making more handlebars . You think , they bolt on and we don't give it much thought. BUT ! No way , every time we get things figured out, someone comes along and changes things up and creates new problems and new solutions .
What I am getting at is most bars bolt up to a riser mounted on the top tripple tree with 3 1/2" center bolt pattern. Unless you have a springer.  With the introduction of the H-D Street Bob , harley decided there top tree had to be different from every other model. There idea was to machine  the risers right into the top tree. This kind of limits the bars you can mount . Especially if you want to move up to 1 1/4" dia. tube handlebars . Some of you are content to use the stock bars. For those of you that want a solution to the issue , there is a machine shop in my area that has not only redesigned a riser to bolt directly to the stock top tripple tree, but he has a line of top tripple tree's that are designed to replace the stock top tree with a  traditional top tree. These are cnc machined and first quality. The risers are 2 " model pictured. These are available from 1 " to 6" . They are priced reasonable and can be purchased through me . Like all my parts , these fine parts are made in the USA .  If you have questions , you can call me personally at john 360-750-6780 .
Hardtail Choppers will continue to bring you new and innovative parts and services . Tell your friends about us . Remember , "if your coastin , your goin down hill " jg

The extension kit I used didnt have extensions for the blinkers.

    2011 or 2012 same shit.

Where are you going to put your blinkers. If you are going to move them down to your trees, you won't need an extension

Bizzare hey!! I just went from the standard half apes on my sponge bob to a new triple clamp, 2" riser and some low 1"3/4booster bars and love it, but maybe i should have gone for a 4" rollback riser ( next week ) but a week ridin down in Tassie next week will tell me which way to go!!!
