It deserves a far greater recognition than it gets.

AND ...... how easy was this, i seen on a documentary a few years back ... cant remember if it was a japanese or chinese dentist who had his surgery overlooking the harbour .... the japs rang him, yes on his land line, and asked him what was happening in the harbour, he, none the wiser, said the sailors were washing/painting the ships etc etc blah blah, within minutes they were getting smashed ... total surprise.

We don`t always get a choice about the fight but Aussies never give less than 100% whatever the cost. R.I.P.

Father in law was there, after just getting out of Ambon and Singapore (RAAF Radio operator, trained the coastwatchers in the Islands). Lived with us but did not speak about it until a few years before he died in 96. Docco in the History channel was very close to the truth. He was at the RAAF airfield during the second wave, blood pouring out of his ears and deaf for three days after. He was one of the ones that went to the correct meeting point in the bush and when no one turned up returned to the Airfield. They shipped him out together with everyone that knew anything before any investigation took place. Never picked his medals up, he was that disgusted at the cover-up.
    RIP Old mate.
